Food Lion - "Get your lion's share"

Food Lion is a great supermarket to shop at. There has been recent improvements in already high quality standards at Food Lion supermarket and the Food Lion fresh produce has more long lasting freshness after purchase for example. I now have increased enjoyment and satisfying experience when purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables from Food Lion supermarket. My favorite items to purchase in the fresh fruits and vegetables section at Food Lion supermarket are:

  • Raw baby carrots
  • Red apples
  • Green apples
  • Clementines
  • Heads of romaine lettuce or iceberg lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Cucumbers

The prices at Food Lion supermarket are good and you can additionally use coupons to save even more

In addition to fresh produce, I have had a good experience purchasing raw meat at Food Lion supermarket. The raw meat that I typically buy at Food Lion supermarket includes lamb chops, pot roast, oxtails, whole chicken for roasting and chicken wings just for example. At Food Lion supermarket, you can often buy meat with special stickers on them for special low sale prices- the manager's specials.

In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables and raw meat for cooking, I also purchase many other items at Food Lion supermarket on a once weekly basis, on average. While the prices at Food Lion supermarket are kept generally low and fair, I like to use coupons in addition, to save even more money.

The coupons can be used on many items including toiletries such as toothpaste and mouthwash, frozen food items, paper goods such as paper towels and napkins, and many more items.

When using coupons,

When using coupons, some of the best items that you can save money on include Nathan's ready to cook hot dogs, Nathan's frozen french fries and/or Nathan's onion rings to be heated in the oven (our family enjoys Nathan's brands), Seapak brand frozen seafood, Red Baron frozen pizza, Crest prohealth mouthwash, Crest pre-health toothpaste, Colgate toothpaste, Angel Soft toilet paper, Drumstick ice cream, and so much more. Manufacturer's coupons can allow you to save 25, 50, 75 cents or over $1 on each and every item that you have a coupon for. Go with a large stack of coupons and you can readily see savings of $30 or more shaved off of your grocery bill. The local Sunday paper often has great 75 cents off coupons for Nathan's and Seapak products, which we love.

When you are shopping and do not have as many coupons on hand as you would like, then you can instead keep a keen eye out for the best store sale prices and the most inexpensive product brands. Food Lion carries the Cha-ching brand of products. The name alone reassures you that you can save some cash. Mayonnaise, foil, toilet paper and paper towels are just a few examples of items that you can get in the Cha-ching brand. The Cha-ching brand at Food Lion currently offers a roll of paper towels for 50 cents, a 4 pack of toilet paper for about 70 cents, a roll of foil for under $1. That's getting your "lion's share" at Food Lion.

Groceries from Food Lion

For our household, I purchase a wide variety of products. There's really a plethora of possible choices at Food Lion. Of course, I try to make many healthy choices for our family when buying groceries at Food Lion. Nevertheless, I also find that having treats in moderation brings for meal planning that can be more sustainable. We crave desserts less and desire to dine out in restaurants less when we occasionally allow these things. When I keep the refrigerator, freezer and cupboards stocked with items we love including some very indulgent ones, then we don't get as much cravings for the restaurant foods that are sold at greater mark up. Aside from restaurants, carnivals and amusement parks are examples of places where the pricing of your favorite indulgent foods can be quite high. The Nathan's French fries that I can get at Food Lion and bake in the oven remind me of the ones I was able to get at Coney Island as a kid! My kids love them & I better not forget to buy the ketchup too.

Beverages at Food Lion

Getting my lion's share at Food Lion involves stocking up on some great beverages. You can get a variety of brands of whole milk, 1% milk or 2% milk at Food Lion including the Food Lion store's brand. Additionally, cold juices and lemonade are tasty. Food Lion's raspberry lemonade is very delicious and some individuals who want less sweetness might want to consider diluting the beverage with some water. Speaking of water, Food Lion has terrific deals on large cases of bottled water as well as seltzer waters for creating fizzy drinks. Personally, I don't mind diluting very sweet beverages with water. I dilute them often. Tropicana orange juice is also my favorite brand of orange juice for taste and it can be offered at sale prices such as 2 for $6 or 2 for $5 at Food Lion. Simply Orange is another great brand of orange juice.

As pictured in an accompanying photo, you might enjoy buying some little items like colorful straws for around $2 at Food Lion. The kids often love drinking their beverages in nice glasses with colorful straws. The idea came from dining out in restaurants of course and they love to add that touch to dining at the dinner table at home.

Fajita wraps, fresh bread, hamburger buns and hot dog buns are offered in the bread aisle at Food Lion. Some brands of fajita wraps can also be found in other sections of the store. Food Lion also has a very good bakery section. There you can find more sweets that you will probably want to have in very small quantities and bagels that can be sliced and placed in the toaster. The bagels are very good when eaten with cream cheese or butter and cheddar cheese.
