A Variety of Flavors

You may not know this but SodaStream has over 60 flavors. What's really great about this is you can mix flavors to come up with any combination that you can imagine. So if you're tired of the same old soda flavors that you are used to drinking, you now can mix it up with a whole variety of flavors.

Egg Cream

What the Heck is an Egg Cream?

If you live or work in New York City then you no doubt know about an egg cream. For those that are unfamiliar with them, it contains neither eggs nor cream. I believe it got that name because when made correctly, the foam created looks a lot like beaten egg whites. And the cream could be due to the milk (it's usually made with whole mile). But this is just my opinion. It is made up of three ingredients: seltzer, milk, and chocolate syrup. Purists will tell you that you actually have to use a specific brand of syrup. The brand is Fox's U-bet Original Chocolate Syrup . I'll let you be the judge as to whether there is that much of a difference.

Egg Cream is in SodaStream Recipes

I make mention of eggcreams not only because I love them but because I am a native New Yorker. But more importantly and to the point of this article, you can make a Chocolate egg cream with any SodaStream soda makers. In fact,it is part of SodaStream's recipes. Just be forewarned, once you try one you're going to be hooked.

Japanese Beetle

Japanese Beetle

A Japanese Beetle is Ginger Ale with Lemon/Lime. You can use the SodaStream Ginger Ale or you could make your own. Essentially, a quick way to do this is to use seltzer from the SodaStream and mix in some fresh ginger. Then sweeten it with honey (some like to use regular sugar - I like it with honey).

Word of Caution: Soda is a Contributor to Obesity

No discussion about soda would be complete without the recognition that there is an obesity problem in the United States and soda is a large contributing factor. This statement seems to be in stark contrast to the tone of the article up and to this point and there is some truth to that. I think a product like the SodaStream should be used on special occasions such as parties or other events. The SodaStream does offer diet alternatives to many of its flavors but there is controversy about that as well.

I love our soda stream and there are less calories in a soda stream soda than in regular sodas. I like it for sparkling water. Voted up and more.
