Southern Candied Yams Recipe

Ingredients
- 6 large Yams/sweet potatoes, cubed
- 1/2 stick Unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup Light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup Confectioners sugar
- 3 cups Hot water
- 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon Nutmeg
- Wash & peel sweet potatoes/yams; Cut potatoes into medium/large chunks. Set aside
- You will need a 13 x 9 baking dish. Pour and mix all of the sugars into the dish.
- Add cinnamon & nutmeg into mixed sugars. Pour melted butter and gently mix with sugar mixture.
- Pour hot water into 13 x 9 baking dish and allow water to dissolve the sugars. Gently stir to blend together well :)
- Lightly lay the sweet potatoes/yams into baking dish. Spoon some of the juices from the pan evenly on potatoes. Cover with aluminum foil 7 bake at 350 degrees for 1 hr. Enjoy:)
Optional Toppings:
- Chopped pecan
- Miniature marshmallows
- Flaked coconut
These are delicious to add on top ,if your looking for more of a dessert .Sprinkle toppings to suit your taste. I prefer an abundance of miniature marshmallows! Happy eating :)
