Tuna Steak Bacon Wrapped or Tropical
Tuna has a versatile meat that works well with many different recipes. You can find tuna dishes everywhere from your grandma's kitchen to high end restaurants. It's like many people feel you need to go to a restaurant with a great chef to enjoy a truly delightful tuna dish., Not so. These tuna steak recipes will take out all the guess work allowing you to achieve that great restaurant quality meal at home.

Bacon Wrapped Tuna Steaks
- 4 slices of hickory smoked bacon
- 1 pound of tuna steak sliced into 4 pieces
- 2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar
- Fresh ground pepper and salt
- 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 2 hass avocados thinly sliced
- 1 head frisee torn into bite size pieces (you may purchase this at upscale grocers or farmers markets)
- Wax paper
Put a large strip of wax paper on the counter top. Place the four strips of bacon onto the paper spaced apart. Place a piece of tuna in the center of each piece of bacon, season tuna with fresh ground pepper and salt. Wrap bacon around tuna and secure with a toothpick.
In a large nonstick skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil over medium heat until it shimmers. Place tuna into pan and cook over medium high heat until bacon becomes crisp and tuna is still pink on the inside. This will be about 6-7 minutes. Be sure to turn once during crisping.
Next, in a medium bowl mix remaining olive oil, salt, pepper, and vinegar. Add in avocados and frisee, toss lightly, and place onto plates. Remove the toothpicks used to secure bacon from tuna and discard. Cut each piece of tuna in half and arrange the tuna on the frissee, drizzle remaining dressing from salad over tuna and serve immediately.

Tropical Tuna Steak
Tuna Steaks from the Tropics.
- ½ cup pineapple
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro
- ¼ cup hoi sin sauce
- 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
- 4 6 ounce tuna steaks
- 1 teaspoon of fresh ginger
First, you must create your marinade.
In a large Ziploc bag, combine pineapple, lime, cilantro, hoi sin sauce, sesame oil, and ginger. Mix well. Toss tuna into bag and place into refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
Prepare grill by spraying with nonstick cooking spray and starting coals for high heat. Remove tuna steaks and lightly shake to remove excess marinade. Discard any remaining marinade.
Place tuna steaks onto prepared grill for approximately 4-5 minutes per side being extra cautious and prevent overcooking. Remove the meat from the grill and serve. Seafood is something really worth considering. As main dish or as seafood salad on the side
