Steaming Is A Great Way To Cook Fish

Steaming is an excellent way to cook fish and vegetables. And tilipia is one of the best fishes to steam. You can use filets or whole fish and if you make it once I guarantee you your going to make it again. I have a bamboo steaming basket that I use with my wok and it works very well.

One thing a lot of people miss is that you can add lemon slices, fresh herbs, fresh sliced ginger, garlic, or lime to the water before you steam vegetables or fish and it will flavor your fish and vegetables. Tilipia is a delicate white fish and will take on the flavors from the steam very easily. I love to steam tilipia with minced garlic, lemon wedges, and fresh rosemary in the water. The flavor you get is just amazing. When I put the tilipia filets in the steam basket to steam them I squeeze the juice from a fresh lime on them and sprinkle them with ground sea salt and fresh ground black pepper.

If you really want to go all out and prepare a steamed meal everyone will love start off by slicing a large sweet onion into very thin slices and put it in the bottom of your steamer basket. Next add whole new potatoes, and brussel sprouts. You want to end up with a flat layer of vegetables. On top of that add tilipia filets and then squeeze fresh lime juice over everything in the steam basket. Then sprinkle everything with fresh ground sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Steam the fish and vegetables until the fish and vegetables are done and you'll have one of the most delicious steamed fish and vegetable meals you will ever eat.

You can serve white rice cooked with butter and a little sea salt with your steamed fish and vegetables and I guarantee you that you will think it is some of the best food you will ever eat. You can experiment and come up with flavors you love. You can try steaming a whole tilipia and serve it on a beautiful platter with steamed vegetables and white rice. Try garnishing the dish with twisted lemon and lime slices and fresh chopped parsley. I guarantee you that the fish will be delicious and people will wonder how you ever made something so delicious.

Try steaming the various vegetables in the below list and I bet you'll find you just love them.

1. Corn on the Cob cut into little 3-4 inch pieces and seasoned with butter and a sprinkle of dry Italian Dressing. Be sure to coat the corn with a thin layer of butter and sprinkle it with the dry Italian Seasoning.

2. Asparagus, just buy the fresh asparagus and steam it with a little butter and fresh squeezed lemon juice.

3. Carrots , cut your carrots into thin sticks and season them with sea salt and butter.

4. Zucchini , again cut them into thin sticks and season them with sea salt and butter.

5. Cabbage , cabbage is so delicious steamed. All you have to do is add some butter and sea salt and ground black pepper for a delicious vegetable that will be so delicious.

Those are some of the vegetables that go very well with fish and just recently I have started to steam the little small new potatoes you will now find in most supermarkets. They also go great with steamed fish and I bet you won't believe how good they are until you try them.

You can also steam peeled and deveined shrimp and serve it right alongside your steamed fish and vegetables. I quite often steam the whole tilipia and stuff it with peeled and deveined shrimp, fresh rosemary twigs, and lemon slices. It makes a beautiful presentation dish and it is oh so delicious. If you have people that worry about bones serve steamed tilipia filets right along side the whole tilipia. You can also include the imitation crab meat in the stuffing of your whole tilipia and people will love it. You ill want to sprinkle ground sea salt and black pepper on the items used to stuff your whole tilipia.

There are all kinds of ways you can steam fish and you can make it as simple or as elaborate as you want. Very thin slices of ginger stuffed into small slits in your whole tilipia will really enhance the flavor. I remove the eyes of the fish and stuff the empty sockets with rosemary very tightly and the smell from the steaming rosemary is oh so yummy.

You can steam fish and vegetables in the microwave but you will need a large plastic dish with a lid so the fish and vegetables will cook. Just watch the items steaming in the microwave and check the fish often to see if its done yet. It is done when it flakes easily with a fork.

Lets Make Chinese Steamed Fish

Chinese Steamed Fish is oh so delicious and easy to make. You will need a wok with a large steaming basket to cook Chinese Steamed Fish. I like to use either a whole tilipia or a whole rock bass to make my Chinese Steamed Fish.

You will want to wash your fish thoroughly and check to make sure that any and all scales have been removed. You will want to smear your fish inside and out with Thai Curry Paste. Put the Thai Curry Paste on as light or as heavy as you like. Now put the fish into the steaming basket and place cilantro and ginger on top of your fish. You will want to get your water to boiling and then reduce to medium heat. You will want to cook your fish from 20 to 30 minutes depending on how large of a fish you have.

Once you can flake your fishes flesh with a fork the fish is done. Remove from the heat and place onto a large platter of steamed vegetables and shrimp that has been peeled and deveined. Let me tell you I love this fish about as much as anything I have ever eaten. It is quite simply delicious and people will wonder how you ever made something that delicious and that beautiful.
