Sweet & Salty Snack Mix

This snack mix incorporates the salty taste of mixed nuts, pretzels, and peanut butter with the sweet tastes of cereal, milk chocolate, and powdered sugar. It is a delicious blend of contradictory flavors. This recipe makes a lot. It can be stored for a few weeks in an airtight container. Because there is so much in one batch, you have plenty to share with friends and family. This snack is highly portable and highly addictive.

Yields: Several Servings


  • 1 18oz box golden grahams cereal
  • 2 cups mixed nuts, roasted and salted
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 1 12oz bag milk chocolate
  • 2 1/2 cups pretzel sticks, broken
  • 2 cups peanut butter, creamy
  • 2 tsp vanilla flavoring
  • 1 16 oz box powdered sugar
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine

Sweet & Salty Snack Mix

  1. In a large container, mix all the dry ingredients together.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt margarine/butter, chocolate chips, and peanut butter over medium heat, stirring constantly. Do not let it boil. Add the vanilla and remove from heat and allow to cool.
  3. Pour the chocolate mixture over cereal mixture in small amounts. Mix until everything is coated.
  4. Pour chocolate coated ingredients into a paper grocery bag. Pour the entire box of powdered sugar into the bag and fold the top over. Shake until everything is snowy white and covered in powdered sugar.
  5. You will have plenty -- store in an airtight container. Enjoy!
