Sweet and Sour Meatballs

This recipe is for sweet, sour, and tangy meatballs. These meatballs can be served as party appetizers or as a meal served over fried rice, white rice, or asian noodles. This tasty dish includes pineapple chunks, bell pepper chunks, and onions chunks. It is a form of Americanized Chinese cuisine. It is great accompanied by egg rolls and/or egg drop soup.

Yields: Several Servings

Ingredients

  • 1bag frozen italian meatballs
  • 1 16 oz can pineapple chunks, (pour in with juice)
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper, course ground
  • 1 tsp garlic, jar kind
  • 2 small bell pepper, chunked
  • 2 medium onions, chunked

Directions

  1. Place the frozen meatballs in the crock pot.
  2. Add the other ingredients into the crock pot and mix well.
  3. Cook on high for 1 hour and low for 5 hours. Serve over rice or noodles with an egg roll and/or egg drop soup on the side. Delicious!
  4. Note: Can use one green bell pepper and one red for color. Can also add sliced carrots, mushrooms, and broccoli for a colorful presentation with more vegetables.
