The Bay Takeaway

The Bay of Colwyn has several traditional fish and chips shops. The Bay, situated on Seaview Road on the approach to the A55, is centrally located and has an extensive takeaway menu. As well as food to go, this establishment also has a delivery service and a lovely Bistro next door serving its lovely battered cod with chips as well as freshly prepared, homemade meals.

The Bay Takeaway is slightly tucked away but is definitely worth a visit. There is free parking on the opposite side of the road and a car park around the corner, Ivy Street car park.

I did the steps, and it is just 300 steps to Colwyn Bay train station, 150 steps to the Bayview Shopping Centre and 500 steps to Colwyn Bay Promenade with its award winning beach. It's bang on in the centre of the town, hidden away on Seaview Road, just off Abergele Road.

Battered cod, as you would expect, is the house special. Small, regular and large cod and a child mini fillet of cod can all be bought, cooked fresh to order. Other fish dishes include: scampi, squid bites, haddock and salmon. As well as fried fish, you can have your cod, haddock or salmon freshly steamed.

1/4 pound burgers from a chip shop? Yes. and as well as your regular burgers this place sells Welsh beef and lamb burgers with salad and relish. Enjoy in a traditional bun, sesame bun or brioche.

There is an extensive choice for kids. Chicken nuggets, cheese fry-it, sausage can be had as the children's meal. In the Summer months, the little ones can have their meal served in a bucket and spade, served with a bottled drink, perfect for when you find the excellent beach just 500 steps away. If you want a secret car park, close to the Bay Takeaway and not far from the beach, Ivy Street is very handy for both. You can even pop into the Bay Bistro next door for a fish supper and pint of beer.

The Bistro serves a varied menu and dishes are available to take away from The Bay. Good home cooked food to take home includes salmon, lasagne, chicken korma with rice and chips. There are also vegan options including the chefs own sweet potato and chickpea curry and the vegan burger.

Gluten free is catered for at the takeaway and Bistro. Batter is both gluten and lactose free and contains no eggs. Gluten free options such as sausage, curry and gravy are available and the options for allergen sufferers is increasing all the time. You can try our gluten free Yorkshire puddings for Sunday lunch.
