The Secret Recipe of Karak Tea or Chai
What is Karak Tea or Chai?
Karak Tea or Chai ("Chai" is a Hindi word, meaning Tea), a hot beverage drink prepared by most Indian families. During the winter, a cup of hot "Karak" and "Samosa" is an ideal combination. As the name suggests, "Karak" means Strong while "Chai" meaning Tea, therefore Karak Tea is also known as Strong Tea.
Preparing Tea sounds an easy recipe, however, there are twists to prepare Karak Tea.
One hot brewing cup of Karak Chai with a sensational smell and a refreshing taste will keep you refreshed for a long time.
What are the ingredients required to prepare Karak Tea?
- Milk.
- Tea Leaves.
- Water.
- Cinnamon Stick.
- Cloves.
- Crushed Cardamom.
- Crushed Ginger.
- Sugar.
- Tea Saucepan and Cups for Serving.
Method:
Switch on your gas flame and put on the saucepan. Pour half glass of water and allow to boil vigorously for a few seconds. Now add the spices one by one. Add 1 piece of whole cinnamon stick, 4 to 5 cloves, 4 to 5 crushed cardamom, 1 inch of crushed ginger. Cover with a lid and allow to boil, until you can get a strong smell of the spices coming out.
Remove the lid and add a cup of fresh milk or evaporated milk, according to the availability, further let it boil for one more minute. Now, add the tea leaves and boil for one Minute until you see the brown coloration and the mixture trying to expand and pour out from your saucepan. Add sugar to taste.
Put the gas on a low flame and cover with lid for one more minute. Switch off the flame and strain the tea in a teapot.
Now, take the cup and pour the tea into the cup from a height in a way that it should foam.
That's it, Your Karak Chai is ready for serving.
