Meatloaf with a mashed potato crust is oh so delicious and tasty.

The World's Best Meatloaf Recipe

Over the years I have tried to come up with the World's Best Meatloaf. And now I think I have. I got the ideal for this meat loaf after eating a delicious Shepard's Pie at a friends restaurant in St Augustine Florida. I got to thinking what could I do to improve on meat loaf. What indeed.

I knew I loved Mashed Potatoes and Gravy with my meat loaf so what if I put it all together into a great new recipe for meat loaf. In fact a meat loaf like you've never had before. And you know the worlds best meat loaf just had to have bacon so I got to thinking about how I could add bacon to the worlds best meat loaf.

You need a good ground chuck or ground round to make your meat loaf out of. You will need the below ingredients for your meatloaf.

1. 2 Pounds  Ground Chuck.

2. 2 Cups Fine  Italian Bread Crumbs.

3. 1 Cup Fine Diced Green Bell Pepper.

4. 1 Cup Fine Diced Purple Sweet Onion.

5. 4 Large Eggs.

6. 1/2 Pound Bacon in strips.

7. Wooden Toothpicks.

8. 2 Tablespoons Minced Fresh Garlic.

9. 1 Teaspoon Salt.

10. 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper.

11. 4 Cups Homemade Mashed Potatoes Made From Real Potatoes.

12. 1 Large Jar Beef Gravy.

13. 2  6 Ounce Jars  Tomato Paste.

14. 1 Teaspoon Ground Cayenne Pepper.

You want to start with a large mixing bowl and in it you want to place your meat , your eggs, your bread crumbs , your peppers , your onion , your tomato paste and your cayenne pepper. Mix it all together very well and then turn out onto a baking sheet and form it into a loaf.

Take your bacon strips and fasten them with the wooden tooth picks down the sides of the meat loaf. Place your meat loaf in the oven and bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees until the bacon is brown and crisp. Remove from the oven and remove the bacon and toothpicks. Do not allow the bacon to burn on your meatloaf.

Place the meatloaf back into the hot oven and allow it to finish baking until you are sure it is done and then remove it from the oven. Allow your meatloaf to cool slightly and then use a spoon to completely coat your meat loaf with the mashed potatoes about 1 inch thick all over your meatloaf.

Now place your meatloaf back into the oven and allow it to cook until the potatoes start to brown slightly. Now you want to remove your meat loaf from the oven and carefully move it to your serving platter using care to slowly move it so as not to disturb your layer of mashed potatoes.

Now you want to pour your jar of beef gravy out into a small pot and heat it. Pour into a small gravy bowl to serve alongside your worlds best meatloaf.

And now you have prepared the worlds best meatloaf and I just know your family and guests are going to love this delicious meatloaf. You could make your own beef gravy but the gravy sold in the jars now is so delicious and simple to eat and serve.
