Peanut Butter Has Many Suitors in Culinary History

Peanuts have been around since the Incas and made way into Africa and eventually to the United states. It was the USA who developed a creamy peanut Nut Meal patented by Dr John Harvey Kellogg (the cereal mogul) in 1895. Joseph Lambert worked for Dr Kellogg and sold a self-made hand-operated peanut butter grinder in 1895. Apparently many companies got in on the craze by 1914. In 1928 Joseph Rosefeld invented a churning process that made smooth peanut butter. Rosenfeld licensed his invention to the Pond Company who in turn made the original Peter Pan Creamy Peanut butter licensed in 1928. All the while, Rosenfeld branded his own as Skippy in 1932 which included both creamy and crunchy style peanut butter. Peanuts became a significant crop of the South in North America.

America's Comfort favorite comfort food: Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich, a love affair that has lasted a Century

What is better than creamy peanut butter and black raspberry preserves on fresh baked honey wheat bread with a tall glass of ice cold milk. It just makes you go ummmmmmmmm. Toast it and the PB gets more flavorable, but not too much.

Family Favorite: Melted Peanut Butter on Meatloaf Sandwich

Meatloaf is also one of America's staple meals. The left overs are awesome with melted peanut butter. Slice the meatloaf and apply a heeping spoon of your favorite peanut butter. Put in the microwave for almost a minute until the peanut butter is runny gooey. We eat it on rye, but you can eat it on any type of bread. It is totally 'the bomb' in peanut butter sandwiches.
