How to Make Ultimate Burgers and Hot Dogs
Burgers and hot dogs are a treat, especially during the summer months, with all the cookouts and barbecues. When you eat a great hamburger, do you like to eat the burger with a great tasting hot dog as well?
- If you like that popular pairing of hot dogs and hamburgers together, then please read on for a recipe for how to make ultimate burgers and hot dogs.
- The secret to how to turn just burgers and hot dogs into ultimate burgers and hot dogs is partly in using plentiful and rich toppings and partly in using great brands of burgers and hot dogs.
My favorite brand of burger to use is Bubba burgers and my favorite brand of hot dog to use is Nathan’s hot dogs. Both of these brands, Bubba’s burgers and Nathan bun length hot dogs cook up for a meal that is very tasty.
- Another secret to how to make ultimate burgers and hot dogs is to use really good bread. For your hot dog buns and hamburger bun, you will definitely want to have the freshest and tastiest possible bread. I usually buy Ball Park brand for both the hot dog buns and the hamburger buns. Nature's Own is another very good brand of bread that includes hot dog buns and burger buns.
- If it does not inconvenience you too much, buying the hot dog buns and the hamburger buns on the very same day that you plan to prepare the hot dogs and hamburgers might be a good idea for ultimate freshest taste.
- Bread that is more than just a few days old can tend to get stale quite quickly and you might not want to keep bread in the fridge or freezer to better preserve its freshness, although that method is possible.
- I find that buying packages of fresh hot dog buns and hamburger buns and having the family using them up within a couple of days is best for enjoying the freshest possible taste of the bread and preventing waste of bread that begins to turn stale.
Generally, I will keep some Bubba brand burgers in the freezer and some Nathan’s brand hot dogs in the refrigerator. It is important to watch expiration dates and determine how long the Nathan’s hot dogs will be able to stay in the refrigerator.

For ultimate hot dogs and hamburgers,
Bubba brand burgers do not need thawing before cooking when they are removed from the freezer. The burgers can just be separated from the pieces of dividing paper. I rinse all meats including these burgers and pat dry with paper towels before cooking them.
- The burgers can be cooked in some cooking oil on medium heat and will need cooking for at least 8 minutes on each side.
- You can cook them for 8 minutes and then flip them over with a spatula and cook them for an additional 8 minutes.
- I highly recommend sprinkling the burgers with spices while they are cooking. That is what I always do.
- Some options of spices to choose from include salt, black pepper, garlic, oregano, paprika and crushed red pepper.
You will then want to add fresh all natural cheese slices or shredded cheese to melt right on top of the burgers shortly before you turn off the stove. The burger with the melted cheese is going to taste fantastic! Using another burner on your stove top, the fully cooked Nathan’s hot dogs can be heated up.
The hot dogs can either be boiled in a pot of boiling water or heated thoroughly in a frying pan with a little bit of cooking oil. I prefer to heat the Nathan’s hot dogs in a frying pan rather than boiling them.
To present the hot dogs and hamburgers, you can put them in a foil lined baking pan with a large assortment of toppings.
- I like to load the hot dogs up with “everything” including ketchup, mustard, mayo, shredded cheese, sauerkraut and relish, just everything!
- For the hamburgers, you can do the same.
- I don’t put sauerkraut on the hamburgers.
- For the hamburgers, I will put ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, shredded cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. For example, if you like pickles on your hamburgers but relish is what you already have on hand for the hot dogs, you can just use the relish.
In summary, here is what you will need for preparing your ultimate burgers and hot dogs:
- Bubba brand frozen beef burgers
- Nathan’s bun length fully cooked hot dogs
