How to make Yogurt Rice
Yogurt is great for the immune system and helps to fight harmful toxins in the body. Apart from that it contains calcium, protein, riboflavin and vitamin B 12 and is low in fat. So I try to include yogurt in one form or the other in the daily diet of my family. Yogurt Rice also known as Curd Rice is one rice dish I make at least once in a week.
How to make Yogurt Rice? Given are the ingredients and method of preparation of a simple Curd Rice.
Ingredients for Yogurt Rice
- 2 Cups Cooked Rice
- ΒΌ tsp mustard seeds
- 2 cups of plain yoghurt
- Curry Leaves
- Finely Chopped Green Chilies
- Fresh chopped Coriander Leaves
- 1 tsp grated Ginger
- 1 pinch asafetida
- 1 dried red chilly cut into 3-4 pieces
- Salt to taste
- Cooking oil
Method of Preparation of Yogurt Rice
Mix the Curd well and pour it over the cooked rice and mix well. Also add grated ginger, chopped green chillies, salt and coriander leaves. Now heat some oil in a Kadai and splutter mustard seeds. Once done add curry leaves, dried red chillies and asafetida and pour the mixture over curd rice and mix thoroughly. Serve with Papad and pickle.
Note: You may add grated cucumber, raw mango and carrot to this recipe for a vegetable variation of Curd Rice. A fruit variation of Yogurt Rice can be made by adding green grapes and Pomegranate seeds.
