Appa Cake
Appa Birthday Cake
My favourite animated character is Appa the flying Bison from the Last Airbender animated series. For my 33rd birthday, my boyfriend made me a really cool Appa cake! It was so cool.
I love Appa because he is so cute and such a good companion to Aang, the Avatar. Appa is strong, powerful and has a big heart.
Apparently, the Appa cake took Sy 5 hours to make, and it smells very vanilla! First he put liquorice on for the horns, but it didn't look quite right. So he changed it the horns for tentacles from the Star Wars lego Sand Skiff! Just look at him now!

How to Make the Appa Cake
Sy put tin foil over a chopping board to prepare the surface for the cake. He made the Appa cake by using a Victoria sponge recipe from Primrose bakery. The two sponge cakes were - a round one for Appas body and a square one for Appas head tail and feet.
The round sponge was cut in half and the two halves were placed together to make the semi circle dome body. The square sponge was cut into six legs, a tail and Appa's head. The base of the Appa cake was stuck together with rasberry jam.
The icing was butter icing (icing sugar, butter and lots of vanilla essence) spread on with a palette knife. M and M's were used for the toes and the eyes. An upside down Freddo head was used to make his nose. The arrow pattern on Appa's back was painted on with food dye. The three colours mixed were red, blue and yellow.
Finally, add the horns of your choice. You could use wafers, liquorice or marzipan for his horns. Or you could make them out of cardboard or more sponge.
