Bernie's Famous Chili Recipe

Updated on September 15, 2014

Looking for an amazing chili that is full of flavor & real food you want to actually feed your family? My aunt has cornered the market on fabulous food, literally everything she makes is amazing! So clearly I was delighted to get her Chili recipe since it's the only Chili I have ever even remotely liked...much less loved! This recipe is for the masses so if you have a small family plan on leftovers. I live in a house full of boys so we actually eat this whole batch in one sitting.

You have spicing options with the diced tomatoes, they have plain to spicy red pepper get whichever looks good for you. The chili beans also come in Mild or hot so you can adjust to your families desire for spicy!

We typically have Tostitos, crackers, raw onions & some kind of shredded cheese to top off the chilli...and of course the purists can skip the pasta.

Cook Time

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Total Time: 35-40 minutes

Serves: About 8

Ingredients

  • 2 Pounds Ground Chuck
  • 1 Green Pepper Chopped
  • 1 Red Pepper Chopped
  • 1 Whole Onion Chopped
  • 4 Cans Brooks Chili Beans
  • 4 Cans Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 Small Can Tomato Sauce
  • 1/8 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/8 Teaspoon Paprika
  • 2 Tablespoons Chili Powder
  • Dash of Salt
  • 1 Box Elbow Pasta

Instructions

  1. Mix peppers & onions into a large cooking pot with about 1/4 cup of cooking oil. Your going to set the heat on medium & stir for about 4-5 minutes until the veggies look a little cooked.
  2. Then add in the ground chuck & stir entire contents until it's a nice brown color throughout.
  3. Drain...carefully.
  4. Now add in all canned goods & fold in the spices while stirring.
  5. Start the water for the pasta about now.
  6. Cover the Chili & keep it on low while stirring occasionally.
  7. Pop in the pasta once the water is boiling.
  8. Once the pasta is done the chili should be ready as well.
  9. Eat!

Again another recipe that sounds really good - I love my moms recipe for homemade chili too, been making that one forever, but this sounds equally as good
