Johns Best Ever Banana Cream Pie

Banana Cream Pie

5 bananas

3 eggs, separated

1/3 cup lemon juice

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 tbsp sugar pinch of salt

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1 deep dish pie crust


slice 2 bananas & layer in crust.

in large mixing bowl mix sugar, salt & 3 bananas. mash together

mix in egg yolks, lemon, vanilla & sweetened condensed milk. pour into crust.

bake in preheated oven 40-45 minutes until set.

top with meringue.


3 egg whites
1/4 tsp cream of tarter
1/4 c sugar
tsp vanilla
beat egg whites until ribbon stage. add cream of tarter & vanilla. beat & slowly add sugar till soft peaks form. put on top of cooled pie; the rougher the meringue looks, the more ridges, the better.
broil until golden brown.

hint: replace the regular pie crust with a vanilla wafer crust. fill 9 inch pie tin with finely crushed vanilla wafers and melted butter, like you would with a graham cracker crust.
