Chocolate Hazelnut Fondue

Updated on March 14, 2014

Chocolate Hazelnut Fondue Recipe

Chocolate and hazelnuts go perfectly together (just ask the makers of Nutella). One of my all time favorite treats is fondue. I love how simple it is to make and how many yummy things I can dip in it. This lens features a decadent chocolate hazelnut fondue recipe that is sure to impress.

Call up your friends and family, and have them come over to try this recipe out. You should also keep an assortment of fresh fruit and cake around in case you have a last minute urge to whip some up for a snack. Try this chocolate hazelnut fondue recipe one time, and you will be hooked.

If you are really interested in making fondue for a group, consider investing in a real fondue pot. It will be a fun purchase for a special occasion! This one is cheerful and perfect for entertaining. It has bright colors that put me in such a good mood.

Fondue pots are heated by a small tealight candle to keep the chocolate just warm enough to stay smooth and delicious without breaking. This one also includes four fondue forks, perfect for dipping pound cake or marshmallows into your chocolate hazelnut fondue!

What to Dip in Chocolate Hazelnut Fondue

Fondue is fun because of all the choices of foods to dunk in in. Because chocolate hazelnut fondue has the same flavors as Nutella, think about all the things that you love to pair with that fantastic food! Try these suggestions for delicious items to dunk and enjoy.

  1. Pound cake - Cut dense cakes into cubes and serve with the fondue. Lighter, fluffier cakes may not hold up as well to chocolate hazelnut fondue, so look for pound cake recipes. If you don't want to make your own, many store-bought pound cakes will still be delicious!
  2. Fresh fruit - Strawberries and oranges are two delicious choices that work well with chocolate, but any of your favorite choices can be dunked.
  3. Marshmallows - Marshmallows are a classic addition to any dessert fondue plate. They are fairly neutral in flavor, so they are a great vessel for the fondue.
  4. Fudge - For the true chocoholic, try dipping dense, sweet fudge into fondue. Heaven.
  5. Cheesecake squares - Make sure that you have a recipe that is dense and firm, so it holds together when it is dipped. Then, enjoy!
  6. Pretzels - Salty items are delicious with fondue as well. The combination of chocolate and pretzels is delicious!

I've got the urge to have this right now and if I wasn't such a squidoo addict I would be on my way to shop for the ingredients instead of writing this note...chocolate hazelnut is one of my main weaknesses. Not sure whether to thank you or not since I will now be haunted by this until I have some. :-)
