Best Bolognese.

Home Made Spaghetti Bolognese.


one kilo of steak or beef mince.

6-8 carrots(peeled and chopped)

2 onions finely chopped.

herbs-basil,oregano,bay leaf,paprika,chilli powder.(to taste)

6-8 rashers smoked back bacon.

1 packet of pasta(1kg any variety)

tomato puree

beef stock (1 pint).

400 g tin of tomatoes

salt and pepper to taste.


put a little oil or butter in a frying pan and melt.

add mince and cook till browned.

add onions and carrots.

cover with water and bring back to boil.

add all herbs to pan

cook and chop bacon,add to minced beef.

add tomato puree

cook for a further 30-40 minutes.

make up beef stock with hot water.

add stock to pan continue cooking for further 10-15 minutes.

Tasty and easy to make.

Wee bit of parsley on top.

The ingredients are all intended to be added one by one in an easy to follow script.i have all the ingredients sat out in order of inclusion to the pot.then one by one you add them in,I have done this method for years's a good way to make sure you don't forget anything that is supposed to be included.i have made the recipe as easy to follow and make as I possibly could.i included this recipe for a reason,a lot of people I speak to shy away from this recipe as it may be too difficult.i can assure everyone it is very easy to follow and make.

this recipe I intended to be very easy to make.step by step details are the basis for making the recipe a success.i know from making this lots of times,that you can't fail to make a delicious hearty meal for all the family.

Good for big and small appetites alike.

The recipe I've made up is designed for a big family,but if your a smaller sized family you can reduce the amounts of ingredients used.i used roughly a kilo of mince for 6-8 people.for 2-4 people reduce all ingredients by half,except for spices etc,the spices would still be to your taste preference .

      Sounds wonderful. I didn't have quite as many mouths to feed as you.- three sons, but some version of spaghetti was a weekly staple in our home when they were growing up. :)

      Your recipe sounds yummy. My mum always used to put bacon in her spaghetti bolognese too.
