Beet root jam

Let's see the recipe for a colourful beet root jam.


Ingredients

1. Fresh beet roots - 3 nos.

2. Sugar (powdered) - 1 kg

3. Lemon juice - 1 tbsp


Preparation and Cooking

1. Peel the skin of beet roots and cook them in a pressure cooker with minimum amount of water upto 5 whistles. Keep aside and let them cool.

2. Grind them into a fine paste in a blender.

3. Dissolve the sugar in minimum water and form a thick syrup.

4. Take a heavy bottomed vessel, add sugar syrup, grounded beet root paste and boil.

5. Put the flame in medium level and close the vessel with lid. Boil it for 5 minutes.

6. Stir it occasionally.

7. While opening the lid, take away the vessel from the flame and stir them,else they may splutter.

8. Keep on check and stir occasionally until it get thickens.

9. Add lemon juice to the jam and put off the flame.

10. Let it cool and keep it in an air tight container in fridge.

Guava jam

Guava jam is prepared using ripe guavas in sugar. This is very simple recipe (only 3 ingredients are required) and can be made within minutes! Let’s try!

Ingredients

1. Ripe guavas - 1 kg

2. Sugar - ½ kg

3. Citric acid - ½ tsp

4. Water - as required

Preparation and Cooking

1. Cut the guava fruits into small pieces and boil them in a closed vessel with water for 15 minutes. The guava pieces should be immersed in water completely.

2. Transfer the cooked guavas into a muslin cloth and squeeze them well.

3. Add sugar and citric acid to the syrup and boil it until it concentrates.

4. Put off the flame and let it cool.

5. Keep the jam in a dried, air tight container in fridge.

Tomato jam

Ingredients

1. Ripe tomatoes - 1/2kg

2. Sugar - 1/2kg

3. Water - 5 cups

4. Clove powder - 1 pinch

5. Vanilla essence - ½ tsp

Preparation and Cooking

1. Boil 3 cups of water in a vessel. Add tomatoes into it and boil for a minute.

2. Let it cool for 5 minutes and peel the skin of tomatoes completely.

3. Slice them into small pieces and grind them well to make a paste.

4. To this, add 2 cups of water, sugar and one pinch of clove powder and close the vessel. Boil for 5-6 minutes with occasional stirring.

5. When it becomes thicker, minimise the flame and stir well continuously.

6. Then add ½ tsp of vanilla essence and put off the flame.

7. Let it cool and keep it in an air tight container in fridge.
