    why do my scones topple over during cooking?

    it's the way of the world with homemade scones, as they rise, they may rise slightly unevenly, that is usually due to uneven heating in domestic ovens.
    Don't worry about them toppling because of top heaviness; with lashings of unsalted butter when hot, or jam and clotted cream when cold, they will still be descrumptious.
