How do you season a new cast iron skillet?
To add to the above comment. I did something very similar with my cast iron but I generally don't wash my iron skillets. I either wipe them clean or use a rubber scraper for anything that won't come off with just a paper towel. You should NEVER use soap on your iron skillet. Using water is ok & will still keep it seasoned, just remember to dry it good so it won't rust.
