What is the alcoholic drink Mint Julep? What are the ingredients? Why is it a tradition to drink these during the Kentucky Derby?
Mint muddled with sugar at the bottom of Julep cup. Shaved ice loosely packed and mounded in the cup. Bourbon poured over the ice, mint and sugar in cup. Garnish with a sprig of mint and enjoy!
Kentucky derby - it was a promotion starting in 1938 by Churchill Downs. Since the "contract" has lasted so long, the Mint Julep was named the official drink of the Derby.
