Okay, can someone tell me if those wormy-lookin' pieces in egg flower soup are REALLY mushroom pieces or some herb or what?  The ingredients may be listed, but my stomach doesn't trust 'em! LOL

I love the tast of egg flower soup, but just can't get the nerve to do more than taste the liquid part.   I love texture in some soups, but only when I know exactly what the stuff is.....

Are you talking about the egg? When you swirl  a scrambled raw egg into the boiling broth it makes stringy threads.
there might also be mushrooms or sprouts according to the specific recipe.

No I don't think it's the egg.  That part I can handle.  It's the brown stringy things...

      Ohhh, those?

      Yes, worms smile

But I'm still thinking they might be bean sprouts , or those skinny mushroom stalks. Is it a restaurant or from the grocery store?

I use a packaged dry mix, too. Never noticed "worms"-- how long are they?

it probably is those mushrooms, they're good. it's a good idea to check if MSG is one of the ingredients. it's used often in chinese/asian foods.
