Hello everyone, iam a triffle lover and want some tips on how to make good triffes. I will certainly save some money once i am able tomake my own triffle!!!
Here's one of my favourites - an apricot trifle:
1 small can of apricots (I think canned fruit always tastes better in trifles)
I orange flavoured jelly
4 small sponge cakes
A little apricot jam
50g chopped almonds
50g chopped glacé cherries
2 1/2 level tablespoons of custard powder (I always have to go to the English Shop to get that)
Drain and chop the apricots. Make the juice up to 1/2 litre with water and use to make the jelly. Split the sponges in half and spread with the apricot jam. Put into a serving dish, and cover with chopped almonds, apricots and cherries (reserve 1 cherry for decoration). Pour on jelly and allow to set. Make the custard with the powder, milk and sugar. Allow to cool, whisking from time to time to prevent a skin from forming. When cold, pour over the jelly. Decorate with whipped cream, angelica and the cherry.
