Oh and most of the French-Canadian cuisine, except "oreilles de Christ" (pork fat, fried and served with maple syrup)

Every year, the school kids would come to the library looking for a recipe (an easy one) that they could make for school. They were assigned a country and sometimes it was hard to find a recipe with few, and inexpensive ingredients that was easy enough for a child to make.
