Orgreenic or not?

Updated on January 10, 2013

great non stick pan

Okay, call me weak. All the "as seen on tv" ads about the Orgreenic cookware finally sucked me in. But I wasn't alone. My husband got sucked in right along with me. "We should try those," he announced one day after we'd watched what seemed like the 100th advertisement. The eggs swirling around the shiny, green, coated pan mesmerized him. I think I saw him drooling. The ad promised that you'd get 2 10" fry pans for just $19.99 and you got two cookbooks, one for each pan. (Just in case you actually gave a pan away, perhaps?)

We placed our order and were told that it would take about 6 weeks because they were back ordered. This caused my husband to start biting his nails again...he wanted the pans NOW. I rolled my eyes. May isn't THAT far away..be patient. He finally calmed down and decided that waiting wouldn't be so bad. He knew that they wouldn't charge his credit card until the order was shipped, so he settled down for the long wait. After about a week he began to fidget. I'd watch him slither off into the office to "secretly" check on the order process. He'd come out pouting and announce that the pans were still back ordered.

Time passed and I actually forgot that we ordered the damn things until one day in late April he came running out of the office all excited and gleefully announced that our pans were finally on the way and would be here May 2nd. Oh joy!!! We had a delivery date!! His nail biting wasn't so bad anymore.

The delivery date was sunny and mild. Birds sang, butterflies fluttered and all was well with the world. The nice mail lady delivered the lightweight bundle to my husband, who carried it in the house with both hands and gently placed it on the kitchen island. "Here it is!" he said as he rubbed his hands together. I rolled my eyes again and told him that I'd get the hot water and towel while he washed his hands. He didn't appreciate my humor. He grabbed the letter opener and has his way with the box. His eyes glistened. He removed the pans from their protective wrap and put them on the stove, just to make sure they fit.

The instructions were simple. Season them before you use them by coating them with vegetable oil. Heat them over medium heat until they start to smoke. Remove from heat and let cool completely, then wash them. Now they're ready to use. And please hand wash only, never put them in the dishwasher. We did as we were instructed and then took them on a test drive. Fast, smooth, easy to handle, ooh la la!

I must say that I'm (we're) completely impressed by these pans. They're exactly what they say they are and awesome to cook with. I've used many different pans in my life and these are the best, hands down. Fried chicken? no problem. gooey cheese sandwiches? a breeze. hash brown potatoes? piece of cake.

Here's the low down:

They have a super-hard, durable, all natural, ceramic coating and you don't have to use butter or oils in cooking if you don't want to. The food simply does not stick.

These pans are eco-friendly and promise not to flake or chip so that they never release toxic gases. Absolutely no harmful PFOA.

They have an aluminum core with an ergonomically designed cool touch handle that withstands high temps and transfers from stove top to oven easily.

They have a life time warranty.

They are incredibly light weight!!!

It doesn't matter what you cook, cleaning them is easy. Soap, water, done.

The food literally slides out! You can broil, bake, sear, braise, steam, saute and fry in these these things and the clean up is a breeze, but what I've noticed the most is how quickly, evenly and beautifully everythings cooks.

We've been cooking with the pans now for a month and find that they're the first pans we reach for. We both love them!!!! My husband did " the test." He fried up 2 eggs and swirled them around the pan and then tilted it over his plate. The eggs slid out with ease. He was as delighted as a boy on Christmas morning who finally got his pony. No lie.

The Orgreenic pans are the deal of a lifetime and worth the wait. They are simply fantastic!

P.S. My husband doesn't bite his nails anymore.
