Popcorn Its Not Just for the Movies

I know that I stated its not just for the movies. Where I was going with this was the movie theaters. Growing up always remember seeing these huge popcorn machines at the theater. And for me it was more about the chocolate then the popcorn. Sorry have to be honest here. But as time went on that started to change. Popcorn started to work its way more and more into my life.

Popcorn Machine # 1

Starting in college I was the one who ran the weekly movie night. This meant that they trusted me to pick out movies that would please the general crowd of college kids. Trusted me with the cash to do so. It also meant I was the one in charge of the Popcorn machine. In the good news I didn't have to pay for anything but making and clean up was in my hands. And depending on the movie and how many people were there would determine how much of the movie I was able to see. (As a side not I was the one that picked up and returned the movies so if I missed too much it was covered.) Over all it was fun making and bagging the popcorn for my fellow students. It was also nice to know that the person in charge of the dorm trusted me on a weekly basis. Not only to run the movie night but also with the funds to cover movie night.

Popcorn Machine #2

Another college story but a few years (20) later. I was back on campus waiting for a blood drive to start. So I went walking around the building. A lot of things were the same and at the same time a lot were different. On of the differences was a built in popcorn machine. With plenty of bags so you could help yourself. Needless to say I did. I then walked up and down the halls looking around. I was able to pass by the radio station that my wife and I both worked at. I was also able to do a bit of a refill on the popcorn. Free is nice. Anyways my blood level was one degree off so I was not able to donate. However my wife was over and they were happy to have her. This was the first time that she was able to donate in many years.

Popcorn Machine # 3

Where I used to work they would have contest and the department that won would get free popcorn for a day. This meant that the management would be manning the popcorn machine and everyone else would be eating it like it was going out of style. It was interesting how at the end of the day they would open up the popcorn to other departments so they could finish it off. And with this machine it was used at least once or twice a week. Popcorn was very popular.

Popcorn Machine # 4

Just last weekend we walked into church and there it was. A new popcorn machine. And the guy making it and giving it away looked tired. The popcorn was warm and there were no complaints. Especially from my son who refiled his bag with permission more then once. After all we wouldn't want any popcorn to go to waste. And like me in college his clean up time was very easy and short.

Summary

With just four stories you can see how useful and popular a popcorn machine can be. I do understand that it is sometimes easier to just toss a bag in the microwave for one person. I know that is what my son does for his stack at school. But when you are looking on a larger scale for events the large popcorn machine will come in very handy.

A little something to help you serve others.

Yes you need popcorn to fill up the machine and bags to put the pop corn into. But just filling the bags with your hands can get messy.

And to round out the picture here is an easy way to fill the bags with the popcorn . Trust me this helps.

Its amazing what you can find when you Google one word. In this case "Popcorn".

Another one of those how to things that actually helped me.

Sorry But I just had to add this one in. And yes I do have it on 45 vinyl.

One for the little kids

Its the Swedish Sheaf. How can I not include this video when talking about popcorn.

What is your favorite kind of popcorn?
