Sweet and Spicy Tahini Sauce
Ingredients for Sweet and Spicy Tahini Sauce
This sauce is so easy to make, and it holds in the refrigerator for 10 days so it is perfect for meal prep, and it is delicious on pretty much anything. But what do you need to make it?
Tahini Paste – Tahini sauce made from ground sesame seeds is the base of the sauce. It is creamy and delicious without the need for dairy, so it has a lot of different purposes in the kitchen.
Garlic – I highly recommend using fresh minced garlic. However, if you need to use jarred garlic, drain it well.
Lemon Juice – I recommend fresh-squeezed, but you can also use bottled lemon juice.
Tamari – This is a type of soy sauce that brings a salty umami flavor. If you do not have this, you can use regular soy sauce.
Maple Syrup – A little bit of maple syrup adds sweetness to balance the salty and sour flavors from other ingredients.
Sriracha Sauce – Sriracha sauce adds a little heat that helps bring the flavors of this amazing sauce together.

Cook Time
Ingredients
- ¼ cup tahini paste
- 1 to 2 cloves garlic
- 1 1/2 teaspoons tamari
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- sriracha, to taste
- 4 to 6 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Place all of the ingredients into a small bowl and whisk vigorously.
- Taste and adjust seasonings. Add one tablespoon of water at a time and whisk vigorously until the sauce reaches the desired consistency.
Notes
You can store leftover tahini sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 10 days.
If the sauce thickens up too much in the refrigerator, you can thin it out by adding one tablespoon at a time and mixing it vigorously.
I'm not trying to be dramatic, but you can use it for almost everything. It's a sauce, it's a dip, it's a spread, it's an ingredient in hummus and dips. You can also use it in recipes that you want to be dairy-free, but they call for a touch of cream.
