Tabletop Grills - Cookout in a Small Space

Updated on March 11, 2015

No Room for a Grill? Try a Tabletop Model

Looking for a way to barbecue in a small space? Tabletop models are the answer! If you live in an apartment or condo with a tiny balcony and thought that you were out of luck for outdoor summer cooking, that is simply not the case. A tiny space calls for a smaller size grill that will fit the spot you have. It is the solution you have been looking for.

The first home I lived in had a wooden deck about the size of a postage stamp. A table and four chairs and a potted tree was all that would fit. I thought I was done for backyard barbecuing till I saw one of these grills online. It's perfect! I just set it on the table and cook up what I need, serve it and then whisk the grill over to the corner to cool, and sit down and enjoy! I don't like to fool around with charcoal, so I bought an electric model, and it is so simple to use. Plug it in, a quick warm up and you are ready to cook! Propane tabletop models are also a breeze to use.

If you have a small area to work with, give tabletop barbecues a try, I bet you will love them as much as I do!

5 Tips for Grilling Perfection

Be a Better Cook!

1. Marinade your meat - it helps keep it from drying out and improves taste

2. Cut your meat in smaller pieces - it cooks faster, just remember to baste!

3. Always clean the rack before cooking - that black residue is nothing but carcinogens, and you don't want that getting on your food, and you certainly don't want to eat it!

4. Use a basket for items that are small enough to fall through. Save yourself the grief, and use one, trust me.

5. Don't eat meat directly off the grill. It should be put on a plate and covered with an aluminum foil tent for 10 minutes to let the juices sink back in.

Electric Indoor Grill - Easy to Use, Easy to Clean

Are propane or charcoal barbecues against the rules of your apartment or condo complex? Or maybe you prefer cooking in a safer and easier manner, like electrically. All you have to do is plug it in, let it heat up and you are ready to go!

Grilling is one of the top rated activities for summer.

Grills are Also Very Useful During an Emergency

It's a Good Idea to Have One, Just in Case

Your barbecue has the ability to provide you with three things that everyone needs to live:

Boil water to purify it

Cook food to eat

Warmth if it is cold

During a power outage, or other emergency that keeps you from using your home in a normal manner, having a grill will make your life much easier. If you are out camping and you get stuck, it could even mean the difference between life and death. But for the most part, it is a great way to cook, if you are suffering a power outage.

Electric Grills - Pick Your Favorite!

Electric grills are my favorite because they are the most easy to use and usually easy to clean. Just turn it on, and you are good to go. Vegetables, meat, fruit, everything is simple on these grills.

Propane Grills - Easy to Use, Just Turn it On and Off

Propane grills are easy to transport and easy to use, they are one of the more popular kinds of grill.

Charcoal Grill - Nothing Else Gives the Flavor of Charcoal

Charcoal grilling is more time consuming, but in my opinion gives the best flavor. Steaks, chops, burgers, just about anything tastes better cooked on these grills.

Veggie Baste Recipe

Adds Zesty Flavor!

I love veggies on the grill, especially since I bought my veggie basket. Just cut up peppers, zucchini, onions, tomatoes and toss them in the basket and set it on the rack. They are twice as good if you use a flavorful baste while they are cooking. It keeps them from drying out and it really adds luscious flavor.

This is my favorite baste recipe:

1 cup olive oil

1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

3 tablespoons minced fresh Italian herbs, basil, oregano and parsley

1 tablespoon minced garlic (fresh or dried)

1 1/2 teaspoons chicken seasoning

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 tablespoon fresh chives, minced

1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning (can use plain black pepper)

Put all ingredients in a mason jar and shake, let set in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Pour into a coffee cup and drop in your barbecue mopl. Mop the vegetables frequently while they are cooking, turning them often. You can drizzle what is left of the baste over the veggies before serving.

Delicious!

Vegetable Basket and Utensils - Perfect for Cooking Vegetables

These items are exactly what you need for making perfect basted vegetables. I have this basket and I highly recommend it. It heats up well and helps to cook the veggies, or whatever you have in it, more quickly and efficiently. I also have the mop, which I vastly prefer over a regular basting brush. Finally, the tongs are essential for cooking vegetables in a basket. These three together make grilling veggies a snap!

Any of these would be great if you're traveling in an RV. Usually there's a picnic table at the campsite and you could put one of these on the table to cook.
