Grow and Eat Healthier

Source

The Recipe Source

A Collection of Tried and Tested Recipes and some experiences we have had growing our own veggies and fruits.

In today's financially dysfunctional society, it not only pays to grow some of your own food items, it is also very smart!

We started a veggie garden a few years back, and with some luck but not anything to write about, we pressed on. This year it not only paid off big time, but we have been giving away tomatoes and peppers in mass, so many in fact, our friend has filled his pantry with canned sauces and salsa.

This lens is dedicated to tips and tidbits about our gardens, and the recipes, and other knowledge we have learned along the way, so join me in experiencing this with me. Participate and add your recipes and ideas as well.

Thatsa Spicy!

The above recipe was really fun for me, but not for my mate. Too spicy he said. It's all a matter of taste!

Tried and Tested

Altho I am really lazy when it comes to too much preparation in cooking, my significant other did most of the work, and this was a really tasty meal. I love shrimp anyway, but this is one of my favs now!

Yum Yum!

Who doesn't love a good grilled cheese sammy!

Peppers Gone Crazy!

Out of all the veggies we have tried to grow over the years, peppers have been by far the easiest and most abundant. We have them coming out our ears lol, and we cut and freeze what we don't give away. I have learned to use them in everything from stir fries, to lentil pots. They are a super source for calcium, and a major benefit to your health, so we have no problem with our mass pepper garden <3

No Not for Me!

I used to like fried chicken, and other fried foods too. Being part British I have to love chips, as well as fried fish, but I have learned to be wary of all fried foods now. My mate still loves it, even tho his health says he shouldn't, but if you make this recipe accordingly, stand back KFC, for sure... Not fond of those brand quicky food places anyway, but let's get realistic, nothing beats home made, even if it's fried!

Gordon is Brilliant

and if for no other reason, I love to watch him toss and turn that food like an expert! Fun stuff!

The Mating System

I literally Hate to touch meat, even after it's cooked, but more so when it's not. My mate made this fabulous recipe and the meat was so tender even I had no problems chewing it right up. Hmmm good!

Oh My Gosh!

Breakfast is the hardest meal in the world for me to deal with. I am often too sleepy and skip it till lunch. THIS is worth trying tho, or at least trying to coerce someone else in the house to make it for you ;)
