Universal Studios Orlando Harry Potter Butterbeer Recipe

Updated on February 14, 2015

I Found a Recipe that I enjoy making

This hub is short and sweet. Just like the taste of butter beer. While at Universal Studios in Orlando I tried butterbeer with my son and we really enjoyed it. So I immediately looked up a recipe online and made some myself.

Here is the recipe I used. If you want to bring back the memory of your trip to Universal Orlando & try this beverage again, this one tastes just like the one from Florida.

Here is the recipe

I obviously can't take the credit for this

I found it at this site

BUTTERBEER

Start to finish: 1 hour (10 minutes active)

Servings: 4

1 cup light or dark brown sugar

2 tablespoons water

6 tablespoon butter

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar

3/4 cup heavy cream, divided

1/2 teaspoon rum extract

Four 12-ounce bottles cream soda

In a small saucepan over medium, combine the brown sugar and water. Bring to a gentle boil and cook, stirring often, until the mixture reads 240 F on a candy thermometer.

Stir in the butter, salt, vinegar and 1/4 heavy cream. Set aside to cool to room temperature.

Once the mixture has cooled, stir in the rum extract.

In a medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of the brown sugar mixture and the remaining 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Use an electric mixer to beat until just thickened, but not completely whipped, about 2 to 3 minutes.

To serve, divide the brown sugar mixture between 4 tall glasses (about 1/4 cup for each glass). Add 1/4 cup of cream soda to each glass, then stir to combine. Fill each glass nearly to the top with additional cream soda, then spoon the whipped topping over each.

Cintress -- I'm delighted to find this. I read all the Harry Potter books -- twice. I haven't made it to the theme park. As I read them, I wondered what butter beer tasted like. Thanks for posting the recipe.

How cute. It sounds way too sweet for me, but ya never know with a little rum or whiskey added it might be something an adult would really enjoy LOL! Lens rolled to my traditional Irish Recipe lens.

How great!! It sounds really delicious. I love the description of the taste of butterbeer in the Harry Potter books. I think it would be a great drink to serve at a birthday party if you were watching one (or all!) of the movies. I'd love to see a picture of what it ends up looking like!
