A Possible Series of Riddles #5

Rules
Please respect them:
1. One guess per person at a time, when I respond to you that is your cue to answer again or bask in your winning of the riddle.
2. Reading through the comments is cheating! Don't ruin it for yourself and others!
What Am I?
I travel ever-onward once revealed,
Around the world I may return.
A lofty notion of me indeed,
And sometimes carried on a lie.
Hiding behind me can be great pain,
For I'm used often like a fence.
A fence that hides the truth behind,
And rarely can you see behind me.
Closeness is the key to getting a peek,
A peek at the truths I cover.
Perhaps I am the truth inarguable,
But we know that can't often be the case.
Some adorn me as a career tool,
Others use me to seduce.
Crooked, jagged, repulsive, evil,
I'm silent but express much.
Sometimes my perfection takes practice,
While others master me with ease.
Just make sure you adorn me whenever possible,
And seek to use me as you please!
Riddles Are Deceptive
The most interesting part of riddles, maybe, is how deceptive the lines within can be. One second you feel like you must have landed upon the answer, but then you read another line and your excitement is extinguished. You read over and over again, but the answer slips through your fingers like the sands of time you're spending in solving the riddle to begin with!
Have you been deceived, or do you have the answer?!
