Age of Sigmar Base Sizes
Do Base Sizes Matter?
Warhammer Fantasy Battles used to use square bases but Warhammer Age of Sigmar has moved to round bases. According to Games Workshop, you can use any base size or shape for AoS games, and even mix and match.
In theory, base sizes shouldn't even matter: the rules say to measure distances from model-to-model instead of base-to-base; there are no template weapons; units no longer need to rank up.
In reality, most players continue to measure base-to-base, and sizes do matter when it comes to manoeuvring between scenery, hiding in cover, piling into combat, weapon ranges, etc.
If you are going to invest the time and money into rebasing your old models or making custom bases, you obviously want to get it right. This page is here to help!
