Barbie Dolls In The Barbie Collection

Updated on February 5, 2015

Diamond Barbie.

Hello Barbie Let's Go Party!

So how much would you be prepared to spend on your child's Barbie this year? A few Pounds or dollars? Then of course, there's the extra bits and pieces.

Soon adds up, doesn't it? But as we know it's not too bad. Unless it is Diamond Barbie.

Never heard of it? Well, hopefully your child won't either. Diamond Barbie is a barbie doll with a difference. She was just sold at auction in New York for a whopping great $302,500 (£191,500)! Yep, you read that right!

So who in their right mind would spend that amount on a doll? It seems that it's not the doll that is causing a stir, it's the necklace that is the expensive part. An anonymous bidder decided that it was worth the money. well to be quite honest, two phrases come to mind.

A fool and his money are soon parted, and, more money than sense! Or is it more astute than that? In the future, the novelty of this item will go up in price, and barbie collectors will be scrabbling to get their hands on it. The funny thing about it is the fact that it was sold at a lower price than previously thought! Yikes! This one off Barbie was created by Stefano Canturi, and she wears a black strapless evening dress with the Choker featuring a one Carat square cut pink Diamond.

Barbie hit the shops in 1959, and since then she has gone through many transformations. But this is the first time that this sort of auction has taken place. It seems that, to invest in something different or even strange is the new norm these days. Evidently people are starting to invest in different ways of buying Gold, Gems and diamonds. But what about the rest of the barbie fans? Well there are a great collection for you to buy this year, and luckily they are not so expensive!

So there you have it! If you want to buy yourself or you child a gift for Christmas, then you can splash out and buy yourself one of these! Seriously, I started collecting Barbie when I was a small child, and unfortunately somewhere along the line, moving and throwing things away, I lost all of mine, but they still bring back memories!

So what is out there this year? Every year new toys start appearing, and children forget the wonder and joy of the good old faithfuls. if you like dolls when you are a child, you can guarantee that you will have a barbie in your collection somewhere. So let's take a look some of the newbies.

Barbie Dresses Like the Three Musketeers!

Barbie And The Three Musketeers!

Barbie is set to star in her very first film. Apart from an occasional appearance in a few annimated films and a bit part in Toy Story, She is now the latest toy to be given a Hollywood film deal! Universal Pictures have acquired the rights for a movie based on these famous dolls. So if you want to keep up with the new film, then Barbie Musketeer doll is the one for you!

Better Than Diamonds!

So How about that! there are so many great accessories that you can buy for Barbie. Caravans, houses, clothes, but I thought it was time just for Barbie herself! As you can see there are some great new character costumes. I personally love the Musketeer! And this brought back so many memories! Well, before I suddenly realised that to play with my brothers toys was so much more fun, but that was when I was older, and of course I was a Tom Boy! My mother could never understand why I didn't want to play with the pram and dolls, but much prefered to use my brothers water pistol to shoot the cat out of the tree! But that's another story!

Enjoy!
