Best Selling Video Games

Updated on February 29, 2020

As my nickname here on hubpages implies, I love video games.  One of my aims in creating an internet presence has always been to share my loves with all of you lovely people, so I've decided to embark on a little experiment in Hubbing.  Bookmark this hub, because every month I'll give you a glimpse into some of the best selling video games and accessories on the market, but I won't just stop there, I'll also tell you what I think of the various bits and baubles you'll see here.

So, without further ado, here are the things you'll see a lot of under the christmas tree all around the world, lumped by game system or genre.

Nintendo Wii, X-box 360, and Playstation 3 Accessories!

Some of the best selling video game stuff that isn't an actual video game is, as if it's a shocker, accessories for your gaming devices. The Wii, X-box 360, and Playstation 3 systems has been hot, hot, HOT since they were released, and the buzz only keeps getting bigger, it seems.

If you've been living in a cave in the desert and haven't heard of these gaming systems, they use a variety of controllers and additions. There are all kinds of different controller types, and they're pretty sweet looking as far as the accessories go.

Let's look at the different types of controllers, and really there's not much I can do but let these things speak for themselves. They're just sweet.

Wii Games for Christmas

Nintendo Wii Games

Alright, I can't natter on about the accessories without gushing about the super cool games that are selling like hotcakes this season for the Nintendo Wii.

The first game I'm going to tell you about is called Wii Music.  Wii Music lets you use your Wiimote (hehe) and the Wii Balance Board to make music.  Play up to six band members, make all kinds of funky sounds just by moving as if you're playing the instrument.  Can you play the air guitar? Then you can play Wii Music!

Next up, what Nintendo game system would be complete without some legacy characters doing fun and new stuff? Mario Kart for Wii is here to put your itch for the 8-bit oldies in new clothes to ease.  Mario Kart Wii should be played with the Wii Wheel, and if I have to tell you what Mario Kart is all about, you really need to take off the powdered wig and bloomers!

To be honest, the top ten games this season are, from all I've seen, Wii games.  Do yourself a favor and be the coolest Santa in your town, fight scratch and claw your way to buying Wii stuff this Christmas.

True Blood - Bill Plays the Wii

PC Games for Christmas

Now, this is probably one of the least popular video game categories, if only because it requires you to A.) Have a computer, and B.) Be able to meet a variety of minimum system requirements. But for the die hard gamer, there are a few obvious choices this Christmas for PC games. Here's my top three:

  1. Spore! You get to play God with weird creatures of your own creation and design, from the cellular level all the way up to space-age. If you like EA Games products, you'll love Spore.
  2. World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Expansion. For those of you out there, the other 10 million or more of you who also play World of Warcraft, I say "Lok'tar Ogar!" Kick the plate armor off of Arthas in this epic second expansion for the most popular MMORPG in history.
  3. Deadpool. Red spandex, black soles - seriously, someone teach this guy how to shower. Breaking the fourth wall in a totally different way, make way for the mercenary with the awesome insanity and all of his splendor in this game by Activision. Chimichangas not included.
