Black Ops 2 Multiplayer: Tips and Tricks for New Players.

Updated on November 3, 2012

Black Ops 2 is only just around the corner, and from the multiplayer gameplay, which has already been released, I have formulated some great tips and tricks for the multiplayer gamemode. These tips may or may not work for you, but generally these tips and tricks will not only help improve your performance in game, but also help you have more fun at the same time.

Black Ops 2 like the other Call of Duty games can certainly be frustrating at times, especially when you are losing. Therefore, by following these tips, hopefully you will enjoy your Black Ops 2 multiplayer experience.

Pick The Best Weapon to Your Style of Play.

The most important thing to remember when playing Black Ops 2 multiplayer, is that you should always use the best weapons that suit your gameplay style. If you happen to be running and gunning, then preferably, you are going to want to use one of the assault rifles or sub-machine guns, rather than one of the heavy sniper rifles. Alternatively, if you prefer to play a little more safer, and stay in one particular area of the map, you may want to use one of the light machine guns, or sniper rifles instead.

However, if you plan to do a little bit of "camping" and a little bit of "running and gunning" on Black Ops 2 multiplayer, then you will have to chose a weapon, which can be both effective when being used in both scenarios.

Capture Flags and Play the Objective.

Black Ops 2 multiplayer rewards players for playing the objective, and generally being a team player. By capturing points, planting bombs, killing people whilst defending the flag, defusing bombs etc. etc. you will earn experience, which will help you rank up faster. As a plus, you will earn a higher experience bonus at the end of matches if your team has successfully completed the objective, which means that by playing the objective more and therefore winning, you are going to be able to gain a much more increased rate of experience than usual.

Something else to consider, is that people from both teams tend to rush to the objectives in Call of Duty games, and Black Ops 2 is no exception. This means that by playing the objective, you are going to have the enemy team running to you, which can be a gold mine of experience points, if you can handle and kill them all.

Use a Good Set of Killstreaks.

A great Black Ops 2 multiplayer tip, is to always use a good set of killstreaks. Killstreaks are one of the best ways to rack up kills faster, and therefore increase your experience faster too. By choosing a set of killstreaks, which effectively build up to each other, you will find that not only will you be killing a lot of enemies easier, but also gaining a lot of experience at the same time.

Whilst you should try out all of the killstreaks first and then construct your own build of killstreaks, here are a few recommendations that I can make for you to consider.

  • Hellstorm Missile - A missile that before making contact with the ground will separate into several little missiles, which will cover a very small section of the map in explosives.
  • Dragonfire - This is a killstreak that hovers in the air, and has a mini gun attached to the bottom of it. Whilst it could potentially deal a lot of damage to enemy players, it also looks incredibly easy to destroy as well.
  • Warthog - This killstreak involves a jet plane, which will make several "swoops"across the map, and fires at enemies as it passes by.
  • VTOL Warship - Whilst not a lot is known about this killstreak as of now, it is expected to be possibly a futuristic version of the chopper gunner found in the previous Call of Duty games.

These are just a few of the available killstreaks for you to choose from, but I recommend these in particular, as they will all most likely get you at least one kill each. They also do not take many points to get, which is great when you are trying to get as many killstreaks out, in as little time as possible.

I'm probably one of the OLDEST guys who play MW, MW 2 and Black Ops as my olesdt son, (player name, Murderface99car) purchased these items for me since my 55th birthday last year. He and I hang out together playing these games as much as we possbly can between his work and my looking for a job. I have been laid off and un-emplyed since 2004 when the BOEING company gave me my walking papers. My hope is to win the drawing for the new BlackOps game so my son won't have to buy it for me. I just want to say that as a Viet-Nam era Vet the responce and friends that I have recieved playing these military formatted games has been really cool. I't freaks 99% of the players out (in a positive way) when they find out that I'm actually 55 years old. Even though I'm not very good at the games, as my hand, eye, button cordination isn't as fast as the younger guns who play, they are all really helpful and most of them do show this old fart a degree of respect and understanding regarding my level of play. The entertainment value of these games is second only to the friendships & conversations I have with other players through this gaming medium. Sincerely,,,,,,,Army1975Vet .VA:F [1.9.20_1166](from 0 votes)

Hahaha! I'm watching my son play online right now while I'm at the kitchen table hubbing.

Hey, since you're here. Any way to shut off the cussing in Black Ops 2? I asked my son to shut it off, but he said he can't. I remember in BO1 you could turn off the blood and stuff. Do you know if the profanity can be blocked too?
