Black Ops 2 Zombies Game Modes: Tranzit, Survival, and Grief Game

Updated on October 23, 2012

Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Zombies will feature multiple game modes, rather than just the traditional survive as many rounds as possible game mode (until everyone is dead). As the player progresses in a zombie map, the rounds get more difficult. Black Ops 2 zombies will still have the same classic zombie mode. It will be entitled "survival mode." There will also be two new Black Ops 2 zombie game modes, however. The one shown in the Black Ops 2 zombie trailer is called Tranzit. The other game mode is called "Grief Game," which is a competitive 4 player vs. 4 player mode.

Black Ops 2 Tranzit Mode (As seen in the the trailer)

Tranzit mode is basically a story game mode that allows player to travel to several locations across the map while surviving from the zombie horde. The bus that was shown in the trailer will allow players to travel to other parts of the map while the zombies attack. The map is going to much larger than anything we have ever seen before. Players will be able to venture out into the fog, hold out in one of the locations on the map, or use the bus to traverse across other portions of the level. While the bus can provide the players with shelter, it is very confined and eventually players will have to seek weapons and supplies elsewhere on the map.

This game mode can be played solo or with up to 4 players cooperatively. Players can move freely into the fog to seek out items, however, this can be dangerous to do so. Players will also be able to create items in Tranzit mode that can be used as weapons or defense against the zombies. One example is a shield that can be utilized to protect yourself from the zombies.

Black Ops 2 Zombies: Survival and Grief Game

Survival mode will basically be the traditional zombie mode that was in World at War and the original Black Ops. However, instead of playing in the entire map like Tranzit Mode, you will be defending in one of the locations that is in Tranzit mode. The objective of Survival is simple, survive against the zombies for as many rounds as possible by yourself or with up to 4 players cooperatively. Long time fans would likely have been disappointed if the classic zombie mode was not Black Ops 2 zombies.

Lastly, there is Grief Game in Black Ops 2 Zombies. This game mode features an 8 player mode that pits 4 players versus 4 players while also trying to survive against the zombies. This is similar to survival mode, except it adds a competitive twist. In order to win, your team must outlive the other team. You can not kill the other team directly, however, you can play with the world so that the other team will have a hard time surviving against the zombies. Currently there is little information on how the players can make it harder for the other team to survive. Perhaps players will be able to barricade certain areas of the map and trap other players with hordes of zombies?

I have not played Tranzit yet. I only played Survival, but you can stay on the bus if you want, but your not going to be able to get other weapons, upgrades, perks, etc. if you stay on it.

It's used for going to the other areas. I think there is like 3-4 areas.

What's the deal with the bus?

My team mates got off the bus... bad mistake!

Should I have rescued them, or stayed on the bus?
