Black Ops Call of the Dead - How to kill George A. Romero

Updated on May 13, 2011

George A. Romero is a boss that is featured in the zombie map "Call of the Dead" for Call of Duty Black ops(Romero is a famous horror director in real life). He initially walks out of the water at the beginning of the first round, and will follow the nearest player and attack them once he gets close enough with his movie studio pole. He will, however, walk very slowly unless you shoot him which triggers his berserk mode. George will also attack you and go into berserk mode if you get very close to him.

In berserk mode, he will appear more zombie like, where in his calm state he will look more human, except for the electricity coming from his weapon. He will also run in berserk mode and be more aggressive. Players should avoid shooting him in the early rounds until they are ready to fight him.

There are two ways to defeat George A. Romero. The first is by shooting him with the upgraded (pack-a-punched) V-R11 and shooting him when hes in the water. This way, however, will not give you an achievement/trophy. The second way (much more difficult) is by shooting the hell out of him a million times! George A. Romero is not invincible, but it will take a VERY long time to kill him with conventional weapons.

How To Kill George A. Romero In Call of the Dead (Tips and Strategy)

Prerequisite Tips

- The ray gun and scavenger upgraded are by far the best way to kill George. The M1911 is also not a bad choice.

- Conventional weapons like the HK21 and RPK are decent, but slow you down when running. George A. Romero runs very fast in berserk mode and machine guns will slow you down. However, if you are playing with multiple players, it may not matter.

- Try to create crawlers so you have the time to defeat George.

- As the game goes on, George gets stronger just like the zombies, try and get ready to kill him before round 20 or else he will be more difficult to kill (recommend round 12-16).

- Make sure to have the Juggernog perk before fighting George. Also, you should have the PHD Flopper perk if your using the scavenger sniper rifle.

Strategy to kill George A. Romero in Call of the Dead

Take George near the water by the spawn point. Begin shooting him with your best weapons. Make sure everyone else is shooting him as well (if your playing online). Watch out for his berserk mode so keep running away from him by running around in circles near the water. If your getting hurt, take him in the water. I have not verified this, but you may not be able to finish him off in the water, but can damage him.You can tell that he is taking damage when his movie studio light turns to a yellow aura instead of a blue.Note that when he is almost defeated, he will run faster in berserk mode. Expect to have to shoot him a lot because he has a massive amount of health.

Continue to fire at him until he drops a death machine power up and a random perk bottle. He will then retreat back into the water and will come back a couple rounds later. He can not be killed permanently.

Alternatively, you can go near the mystery box while fighting George, and keep using the weapons from it until you need more ammo. This method works fairly well, but it will depend on where the mystery box is located on the map. For example, it may be difficult to avoid taking too much damage from George in certain parts of the map (e.i. mystery box is behind the lighthouse which is bad spot for running away from him).

I highly recommend that you use the ray gun or the scavenger sniper rifle upgraded for fighting him. You can technically defeat him with weaker weapons like an MP40, but it will take an extremely long time. You will also run out of ammo much faster with weapons that are not pack-a-punched.

Also note to be careful when using the scavenger sniper rifle as it can kill crawlers if their near George A. Romero.

Good Luck!
