Call of Duty: Ghosts is Coming

Updated on April 30, 2013

If you are a Call of Duty fan and have played any of the previous games, including the more recent ones like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, or Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, you may be interested in the upcoming game from Infinity Ward (who made CoD: MW3) called Call of Duty: Ghosts. It has been rumoured for a while now, and has been somewhat prematurely revealed in a recent leak by a several retailers.

While it has not been officially announced, it is a near certainty that is simply awaiting the official word from the game's creators. Many expect the game to be announced tomorrow (May 1, 2013), but again, that is just speculation.

Still all Rumors For Now

While some information leaks have proven to be good, so far, there is still nothing definite without the company's official word on it. However, several sources have claimed that the Ghosts title was real several weeks ago, dashing rumors of Modern Warfare 4 that had originally been travelling across the interwebz.

The details that have been revealed so far indicate that a new storyline will be in play with new characters, and that the game is being built on a brand new gaming engine. While the last several games have been running under the IW 4.0 engine (or enhanced versions of IW 3.0), this new game is said to be built using something new. What the engine is, and how it performs are yet to be seen, but it will be an exciting reveal, I am sure!

Anything official at all?

The only thing that has officially been revealed at this time is the image shown at the top of this article. A mosaic made up of the avatars of many players who opted to add their pictures to the image, depicts a skull of some sort that is purported to be the Ghosts symbol.

However, several gaming industry reporters have attempted to get official word and have been informed that "Activision does not comment on rumour or speculation." Not much more than this was expected, of course!

Still in the hot rumours section are the interactive loading screens, and the ability to peak around corners. The first seems a little trite, but could be true, while the second seems quite interesting and could add a fun dynamic to the game, for sure. Perhaps there will be more pitched gun battles instead of just running in and killing everything in sight with a spray of bullets in all directions. i would be interested to see something like that!

What do you think? Hopefully we will all know tomorrow, but until then, let's keep watch and keep on speculating!
