Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 tips on Hardcore Multiplayer Game types ( MW3 Tips )

Updated on May 31, 2012

Hardcore game modes

As i said in my initial review of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, i would be making guides with tips on specific game modes. Well this guides will show you the basics on how to play the hardcore game modes efficiently with tips on how to play a good game each time you play.

Also.. I am on the Xbox Live network, for those of you who continue to ask, my gamer tag is Agent Johnr. I tend to not add new members from here unless I play with you first, and I only play hardcore domination, or Infected, but either way if you see me on, feel free to send a shout out.

the first thing i would like to mention about hardcore is that you should focus on using automatic weapons, with low recoil, and easy movement. On MW3 in hardcore, i don't suggest using, sniper rifles, light machine guns, or shotguns. These weapons may be powerful, and will kill someone if you hit them, but for the most part the maps that are out now are close quarter maps and do not need the use of these weapons. A sniper rifle may come in handy on a couple maps, but as far as the shotgun and LMG's go, you cannot maneuver them like the sub machine guns, and assault rifles. If you prefer a shotgun, try it out, and who knows you may be good with it, but for someone just starting out you will get run over by anyone wit an automatic gun 9 times out of 10.. So theres my suggestions for your gun classes, now lets go into the game modes.

The game modes.

Team Deathmatch

I always start with Team Deathmatch because this game mode is obviously the most classic, and most simple game mode. In hardcore you will see that it is just like the core version with no UAV, and it is much easier for you to kill someone.... or die... But either way, team deathmatch is a great way for someone to get introduced to the hardcore game modes. In past Call of Duties, the hardcore team deathmatch has been known as a campers paradise because that is primarily what people would do. But in MW3 although you will find campers, the new addition of special explosive weapons can easily eliminate camping, along with being able to reset your stats at 10th prestige. As far as tips for team deathmatch go, i would say that assault rifles would be best. If you like to rush, and run and gun, then sub machine guns, but for a casual game style then using an assault rifle like the M4, or the CM901 will easily allow you to take a game with a good amount of kills.

kill Confirmed

Hardcore kill confirmed is currently my favorite game type along with search and destroy. Kill confirmed on hardcore really allows you to get kills, but also have an objective during a game, and typically will prevent the campers that you will find in team deathmatch.

Tips - On hardcore kill confirmed you should use an assault rifle, or submachine gun. Like team deathmatch, you should be using a gun that has good movement, low recoil, and a good fire rate. Using a sniper rifle may get kills, but this will not help your team out. A shotgun, is going to get overrun by someone using a machine gun, and if you do kill them, then typically someone will kill you on your way to grab there dog tags. A light macine gun can be used here, but honestly is not necessary because you should not have the need to have to have such a large magazine, or large amount of power. So stick to the assault rifles or submachine guns.

Search and Destroy -

Hardcore search and destroy is my favorite game type along with kill confirmed. Overall search and destroy eliminates camping along with providing an overall fun experience for an objective based game.

Tips - Now this is simple. On offense your goal is to move quickly. I think using a submachine gun here is key. The maneuverability and low recoil, and high fire rate allows hipfiring when you see an enemy, but also power to hit someone from a distance. Assault rifles are fine if you are backing up someone who is running ahead, and shotguns are fine if you are leading the pack. No snipers on offense though, this will hurt your team, and will not be effective in winning the game. On defense, your goal should be to defend. You can rush and try to get the whole team, in which case stick with a shotgun, or a submachine gun. If you are going to defend and objective use either an assault rifle, or light machine gun, and if you are camping thena sniper rifle with an automatic secondary is a smart move.

Hardcore Domination -

Hardcore domination is my least favorite game type, and i do not play this very often. As far as strategy and ways to play , and tips, I am still trying to figure out the best way, if you have tips let me know and i can look into them but here is what makes sense to me for this game type.

Tips - defending the objective you want you can use any weapon. Sniper rifle if you are defending from a distance, or watching more than 1 objective at once(high in the air, or far in distance), assault rifle or shotgun if you are close on the objective, and submachine gun if you are capturing enemy objectives. Beyond that i don't really know what more to say as me and my team don't really play this game mode, because we play Search and Destroy, but this is what makes sense, and the strategy i follow when i do play Hardcore domination.

Perks

As far as perks go on Hardcore this is what i follow and these are the things i suggest

Perk 1

Sleight of hand- allows for faster reloading , and in certain situations this is extremely crucial.

Blind eye - this allows you for the first part of jammer where enemy air support and centries cannot detect you, this is crucial in Hardcore because of how easily you can get killed by bullet damage.

Perk 2 -

Assassin - is obviously the most important once you can unlock it, this allows you to be undetectable, which in hardcore allows you to be extremely effective if using a silencer and blind eye.

Hardline - is the only other perk i suggest in this class This allows you to get your killstreaks one kill earlier, which with the attack perks this is crucial to be able to take enemies out, and help your team.

Reason for not suggesting overkill - With only needing 1 shot to get a kill, any gun is fine, even a pistol, and i do not think you should waste perk 2 to have 2 weapons when chances are you will die before needing that second gun.

Perk 3

Steady Aim- Hip-firing is one of the most important features in hardcore. This will greatly increase your accuracy, and your kills, therefore this is the only perk that i suggest using from perk 3.

Dead silence - The only exception is in Search and Destroy. In search and destroy it is more important for you to be silent then it is for your hipfiring, because if the enemy can hear you, then they have the advantage, so in search and destroy use dead silence.
