Character Analysis MVC3 Part 17
Take a seat for you're here on Character Analysis! On this edition of Character Analysis, we take a look at two more villains to the series. The diabolical Akuma and the cold-hearted Taskmaster.
Akuma - Gouki and his brother Gouken were the two best students of Shotokan Karate and were accelerated to the next level. They were refused to be taught the Shun Goku Satsu, which was sealed by their master. Gouki himself unsealed it by using it on their master, but his body was changed into a more dark and twisted form and thus became Akuma. Disappearing to further master himself, Akuma returned and challenged Gouken, who met with the same fate as their master. Akuma lives only for the fight and has been the target of his brother's students, Ryu and Ken.
- Power: 6/10
- Defense: 6/10
- Speed: 4/10
- Range: 4/10
Being almost a clone of Ryu, Akuma has most of the same powers with a few tweaks here and there and a small handful of unique moves.
Specials
+ Asura Warp - Akuma shadowsteps behind or in front of the enemy depending on input.
+ Gou Hadouken - Akuma fires a purple fiery ball of energy.
+ Gou Shouryuken - Akuma uppercuts with a jump.
+ Tatsumaki Zankuukyaku - Akuma does a flying spin kick that hits three times.
+ Tenma Kuujinkyaku - In the air, Akuma does a flaming dive kick to the enemy.
Hypers
+ Messatsu Gou Hadou - Lv1 - Fires a purple beam of energy for a few seconds. Comes in Ground and Air Versions. Direction controlled by player input.
+ Tenma Zankuu Hadou - Lv1 - Akuma fires several Gou Hadoukens forward. Comes in Ground and To-Ground Versions. I don't know if direction can be controlled.
+ Messatsu Gou Shouryu - Lv1 - Akuma does three flaming uppercuts in a row.
+ Shun Goku Satsu - Lv3 - Akuma enters his Raging Demon stance and dashes forward, the screen turns black with several hitting graphics filling the scene before it returns with Akuma standing with the fiery 'Ten' symbol on his back and the opponent laying down on the ground covered in small purple flames.
Taskmaster - When SHIELD Agent, Tony Masters, is sent on a secret mission to destroy one of the last stashes of Nazi Super Soldier Serum in Bolivia. When only one vial remained, Tony decided to inject himself with it. He gained the ability of Photographic Reflexes, where his photographic memory tied to his muscle memory, allowing him to copy any move he sees without need of practice. However he lost all his memory of his past life. Soon he fell into the life of a mercenary, fighting for the highest bidder.
- Power: 6/10
- Defense: 4/10
- Speed: 4/10
- Range: 6/10
Taskmaster is a collage of other characters' abilities that makes him versatile in any situation. However some of his moves require a little time to use.
Specials
+ Aim of Hawkeye - Taskmaster fires three arrows from his bow. Comes in three Ground Versions(Straight ahead, Arced at an angle, and Overhead), and To-Ground Versions.
+ Shield Skills - He rushes in like a Charging Star and uppercuts.
+ Spidey Swing - He copies Spiderman's Web Swing.
+ Extended Slash - Taskmaster throws all of himself into a long range sword slash.

+ Secret Move: Sword of Black Knight - Lv1 - A Hyper Counter. If hit, Taskmaster unloads dozens of sword slashes before stabbing forward and through, bring the sword into a stab behind him, pulling out a 9mm and shooting into the back of his enemy's skull.
