Best Old Magazines to Collect

Updated on January 13, 2017

Norman Rockwell

Magazine Covers by Famous Artists

Many of the covers on the Country Gentleman Magazine were done by none other than our beloved Norman Rockwell and they are very collectible. These are popular items not only in the paper category but also in the art world.

On the low end a magazine in less than good condition may bring as little as ten dollars. Two of the 1917 issues were different and bring higher prices. These are the Feb 10 issue and the March 24 issue. The Feb 10 front cover is "Postman Delivering Valentines" by Tony Sarg and the March 24 issue is titled "Owl" by Paul Bransom.

Past paper.com is a fantastic resource for finding average prices of many magazines and publications. Checking the auction sites and other sales avenues such as Heritage, will also help you to form a general idea of how much these magazines are worth. Search for the title of the particular magazine you have and form an average price from all the prices quoted.

Public libraries also carry an extensive collection of antique price guides. Be sure to check the art market, as anything done by Norman Rockwell is highly collectible.

Private collectors who wish to complete their collection of a certain magazine may be willing to pay higher prices in order to complete their collections.
