Disney Infinity: Fun for the Whole Family

Updated on June 29, 2014

What Is Disney Infinity

In 2010 Disney and Avalanche Software announced they would be developing a game to take on Activision's Skylanders. After three years of development Disney Infinity and its first set of characters was released in August 2013, just two months before Activision released their third Skylanders game.

Disney infinity was designed not only to take on Skylanders but also to take the technology to another level. Not only would you have collectible, playable characters, but there would also be power up discs to collect as well. And each character and character set would have its own games. There would also be a level creation feature that would allow the user to come up with and share worlds of there own creation.

Disney Infinity Playsets

There are different playsets that are based around different Disney Films and Shows. There are also individual characters that only work in Toy Box mode.

When the Game was released it came with three characters from three different sets. It also came with a game piece that had data for each of those sets games and a Power Disc.

Each of the Characters can only play in their own playset game if they have one, there own mini game and they can all be used in the toybox. The fact that you must use a Monsters Character to play a Monsters game etc. is for some a let down. However the fact that you can create your own worlds that any character of your choosing can play in makes up for this.

Some of the playsets contain Villains who would normally work against the heroes. However in Disney Infinity the Heroes and Villains play through the same story and have the same goals. This takes some of the fun away from the game as having the chance to play as a villain in a villainous capacity would have brought even more dimension to the game.
