Gears of War 3: How To Defeat Lambent Berserkers

Updated on September 29, 2011

Lambent Berserkers are an enemy boss in Gears of War 3. You will fight one of these in the Gears of War 3 campaign and in horde mode. Lambent Berserkers will appear randomly in either waves 10, 20, 30, 40, or wave 50 of horde mode. A lambent berserker is basically a stronger version of the normal berserker. They have been poisoned by the yellow luminescent imulsion liquid and it has caused them to mutate.

The Lambent Berserkers are very strong, they can withstand a lot of gun shots. They are invincible unless shot in the chest when they expose the yellow luminescent imulsion liquid. Since they are still blind, they will have a hard time tracking you down.

In Act 3 of Gears Of War 3 Campaign, you will need to fight a lambent berserker. To defeat it, you must wait until it is about to charge you. During that time, it will expose it's chest, shoot it! Before it is able to knock you down, roll out of the way! Careful timing is required. You may not be able to cause a lot of damage to it's chest when it is charging you, but if you repeat this multiple times it will become weaker over time.

Try to keep your distance from the Lambent Berserker before it charges you. If you provoke it when your close, you may get knocked down. You also will not have as much time to shoot it in the chest before having to jump out the way to avoid damage.

Once you cause a certain amount of damage to the Lambent Bersker, it will start to bleed the yellow imulsion liquid. This means it is almost dead, however, running into the yellow imulsion liquid will damage you. Avoid the touching the liquid at all costs! Continue to shoot the lambent berseker in the chest as it is charging you. Just make sure you do not roll into the liquid when the lambent berserker is attacking you.

Touching the liquid will make you go down instantly, however, you can survive if another player revives you before the lambent berserker finishes you off.

Gears of War 3 Horde Mode Lambent Berserkers

Fighting the lambent berserkers in horde mode may be a bit easier depending on what wave you face one. Be sure to eliminate all other locust before taking the boss on. This ensures that you do not get shot at while trying to kill the lambent berserker.

Explosives work well against the lambent berserker. Boomshots, torque bows, and even frag grenades are effective (much more effective than the hammerburst, lancer, or retro lancer).
