Getting Three Stars in Kingdom Rush Origins: Waterfalls Trail (Level Three)
Waterfalls Trail
There are loads of new things in this level. You have to make sure you're paying attention because this is where the pace starts to pick up a little.
Level 3 Towers Available
Now your towers can be upgraded to level 3 which brings some new awesome benefits to take advantage of. You'll be introduced to two new enemies and one of them is a flying enemy. Flying enemies are tough because they are not stopped by barracks. But, luckily, the level 2 and 3 barracks comes with a ranged attack so they can target the new flying enemy.
The Hyena
The hyena is the first new enemy introduced in this level. What makes these guys tricky is that then cannot be stopped by your barracks or reinforcements. They run faster when they approach them so don't use your reinforcements to try to stop them. It only gives them an advantage!
The Perython
This is the game's first flying enemy. They also cannot be stopped by your barracks and the druids cannot throw stones at them. You have to make sure you have enough mages and archers to take care of these guys. Your level 2 and 3 barracks can shoot arrows at them, but level 1 barracks are useless against them.
Placing Your First Towers
Before you call the first wave, you should consider carefully where you want to place your towers. You know that you are going to encounter two types of enemies that can't be stopped with barracks but you'll still need them for the other enemies. I like to put an archer tower first because the upgraded versions have a pretty good range. They can deal damage to your flying enemies right at the beginning. I place barracks right by the water to stop the walking enemies. Eventually, some of the walking enemies will turn on the pebbles and walk into the top waterfall and emerge from the bottom waterfall. I move my barracks' soldiers onto the pebbles to slow down enemies trying to use the waterfall. I put a mage on the other side of the pebbles and at the very end. It's important to remember that enemies will eventually be coming out of the bottom waterfall and from the path at the bottom right of the screen. Don't leave yourself without any towers down there!
Magic Blossoms
Waterfalls Trail introduces the Magic Blossom. These are cool resource that you can use to deal extra damage to your opponents. When your enemies are near the blossom, tap it once and it will shoot them. It takes a little while for them to refill, but they are useful if you're waiting for your reinforcements or lightning to refill. These blossoms can also hit flying enemies.
The Best Spots for Towers
The picture below shows where I place my towers to keep all of my 20 lives. You have to make sure you are using everything you've got if you want three stars on this level. Use your reinforcements (except not on Hyenas), your lighting, your hero's special power, and the magic blossoms.
Don't forget that calling waves early gives you extra money and reduces the refresh time on your reinforcements, lightning and your hero's special power. A good tip is to place reinforcements then call a wave early to get more reinforcements instantly.
Things Floating Down the River
When you're not too busy dealing with your enemies in this level, check out all the weird things that come floating down the river. Tap each one to find out what surprises are in store! You can earn extra money from one of them!
A New Hero
After you beat this level, you'll notice that you've unlocked a new hero. Go to the hero room and check out Arivan. He has a stronger attack and has some better powers than Eridan. You should get 8 hero coins to train him in different areas!
Don't Forget To Use Your Stars
You should be upgrading your towers' abilities at the end of each level to make them stronger. Focusing on upgrading your lightning to the max level of "Furious Tempest" is a good method. I usually use any extra stars earned in challenges to start upgrading my reinforcements at this point, too.
