Great Xbox Live Arcade Games Part 1- Castle Crashers

Updated on August 17, 2012

Great Xbox Live Arcade Games

In this Series i will go over my favourite games on the Xbox Live Arcade. Some of the games will be new, some will be old but they will all be amazing.

Castle Crashers

Castle Crashers is a great 2D action game developed by Bethesda. Many people consider this game to be a button masher but it does require skill to do well at it. Castle Crashers has one of the very basic story lines where you have to kill the evil wizard and rescue all the princesses. To do this you need to go through a variety of different levels through different landscapes and in different landscapes you will face different types of enemies. Their are tons of characters but you have to unlock them by either completing the various arenas or finishing the game with certain characters. For example. completing the game with the Red Knight will unlock the Skeleton and completing the game with the Skeleton will unlock the Panda. Although completing the 6 or 7 hour campaign may feel like a daunting task, me and my friend managed to finish the game in one day. I have finished the game about 10 or 12 times and have unlocked the majority of the characters. I find it hugely entertaining to complete the game because most characters have completely unique magic so I enjoy trying to get all the way to the last magic ability to see what it looks like. The hand drawn cartoon graphics are really cool and make all the characters look amazing. This game has possibly been the best 1200 Microsoft points that i have ever spent because i have at least 100 hours of game play on this game and have spent a lot of time on my main Red Knight who is level 74. i have also been able to convince several of my friends to buy the game and have completed the game a couple of times with each of my friends at least. When messing about with my friends “All You Can Quaff” is tons of fun just to mess about with. The game has an interesting sense of humour which is very childish and immature but can be hilarious, especially in the beginning levels. The ending is completely hilarious and has had every single one of my friends in stitches the first time they saw it.

In this section i will rate the game on a variety of different points out of 10 and then give an overall rating.

Value for Money

In terms of value for money, I would have Castle Crashers a 10/10 because of the amount of time, enjoyment and re-playability. It has kept me playing for more hours than most other games have, including disc games.

Game Play

In terms of the game play I would rate this a 10/10 as well because if the game play was bad then it would be a boring game but it really isn’t and the combat is really good and adds to the game as a whole.

For re-playability it would also get a 10/10 as all of the characters have unique and cool magic and I find that playing with different types of characters make me play differently and i find it enjoyable to adapt.

Overall Rating

This game is basically flawless and it has to be rated 10/10 in my opinion. It is a fantastic game that is enjoyed with friends or by yourself and is great fun.

Have you bought the game after reading this?
