Guitar Hero: Background
Guitar Hero is a very popular music video game that was developed by Harmonix Music Systems and published by Red Octane.
Guitar Hero 1 was created for PlayStation 2, only. At first, it was nearly unknown except by the true video gamers, but it did not remain that way for long. Quickly after its initial release on November 8, 2005 in North American, April 7, 2006, in Europe, and June 15, 2006, in Australia, Guitar Hero made a worldwide hit!
The original Guitar Hero was a little slow to pick up steam, but it has now spawned into an international hit, selling millions with is guitar shaped controller. Red Octane has produced the following sequels: Guitar Hero 2, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, and Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock.
Although, there have been many music games to have come out over the years, Guitar Hero 1 set the mold for all the years to come, allowing you to become the rock hero legend.
Guitar Hero 2, which was created for both PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360, allows you to form a guitar duo and shred riffs cooperatively. You can even go head to head in the multiplayer modes that are new to the sequel game. There are well over 55 tracks on the game that allows you to choose from multiple characters while you progress in your career.
Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s was created solely for PlayStation 2, and features characters with big hair, tight clothes, and new attitudes to sport the 1980s feel.
But, the Guitar Hero game that has most recently hit the market, is Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock. The fourth game of the series was created for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii. Red Octane revamped Career Mode to feature cut scenes in which your band will slowly work its way through the ranks of rock stardom. Eventually, you will sell your soul to the devil for a record contract, and you will have to battle him for your soul at the end of the game. In Guitar Hero 3, you will, also, battle with Tom Morello (Audioslave) and Slash (Guns N Roses).

Guitar Hero for Wii Review
Guitar Hero 3 for the Wii console is a little different when looking at the other Guitar Hero games. As Wii, is new to the video game world, Red Octane, had to produce the million dollar game for the console.
The guitar controller for Wii, is wireless. It is a similar shape as the Les Paul Gibson guitar. The Wii guitar controller doubles as the controller for GH3 but, also, as the remote for the Wii console. When you want to use star power in the game, the accelerometer within the Wii Remote is the trigger versus lifting the guitar.
Other features that are only for the Wii guitar include rumble, which gives your force-feedback. The guitar shakes to the beat of the song with you use Star Power, as well as buzzes when effects are occurring on the game.
With the Wii version of Guitar Hero, it uses the controller's speaker to play the squeaks of wrong notes. This way, you'll know immediately when you've mess up because the song's guitar will stop, the speaker in the guitar will definitely let you know.
When selecting the game from the introduction screen on the Wii console, you must use an analog joystick, which is found on the top- most edge of the guitar. And, once you've figured out the Guitar Hero 3 channel, and have clicked "Start," you're ready to start the game.
The graphics on the Wii version of GH3, aren't quite as impressive as they should be, but the music is right where it needs to be. As the graphics aid you throughout the game, the music is what counts, and they've definitely hit the mark on that point.
The Nintendo Wii version of Guitar Hero supports the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection. But, although Vicarious Visions and Red Octane haven't divulged much information, it is thought that both co-op and competitive modes will be playable over the internet. This means that down-loadable extras may be in the future, as is already in motion for Xbox360.
