I Love Frogger Game

Updated on June 2, 2012

I Love Frogger

I have to say one of my favorite all time classic Atari games is Frogger. Although fairly simplistic in nature, compared to modern games, it can keep you occupied for hours. How making sure a little amphibian gets across the road safely and then the river to his home without being squished, or fall in the water can make you play for hours, is beyond me. Yet it's true.

It's actually quite a strange game when you think about it because most frogs that I've ever seen can swim. Yet in this game it seems this frog can't. Not that that's his biggest problem what with the trucks and cars trying to squash him. Also he seems to be friendly with the turtles but then they seem to submerge themselves and drown the little frog, if he's still on their backs at the time. With friends like that this frog sure doesn't need enemies.

Maybe originally the game was designed to teach children the dangers of crossing the road and that you can drown in the river. That goes a long way in explaining why the game was originally called Highway Crossing Frog but was changed at the last minute to the more catchy name "Frogger". It’s still a game I love to play and I don't think it will ever get dull.

Frogger is one of those games where you can play it for hours. You can go away for years and still come back and pick it up again. It's not complicated but it's fun. And after 30 years, this game is still loved by millions all over the world. Many generations have enjoyed this Atari game and continue to do so.

Why Do I Love Frogger?

I love the Frogger game because of its simplicity. I like some modern games but for the most part I find the graphics to be very intense and sometimes they make me sick; especially the way the characters move on the screen etc. I think it might be the 3D element to modern games which actually makes me suffer from vertigo. It's not nice.

Playing Frogger also reminds me of my childhood. As a child of the early 80's, I remember playing this game with my Gran and my Dad. For some reason, I can't imagine playing World of Warcraft with my Dad or my Gran and it being fun, the way it was with Frogger.

Where Can You Play Frogger?

It’s been a long time since I originally played Frogger and it’s not like my Atari works anymore, although it would be awesome if it did! In fact, I got this free Frogger download last week from this cool site on the internet..

What Are Your Favorite Atari Games?

Let me know what your fave Atari games are. I can’t remember them all but I remember I loved quite a few of them. I loved Pacman and Millipede.
