If You Fall Off the World when Playing World of Warcraft

Updated on December 27, 2011

World of Warcraft is a Really Fun Game

but something horrifying just happened to me and since I couldn't find an answer to my problem when I asked, I thought I'd write a hub for others who may have made my same mistake (as embarrassing as it is to admit).

I fell off the world. My first piece of advice is: Don't fall off the world. It might seem like a fun and hilarious idea at the time, but it has dire consequences. You might not be able to come back.

Another note: Just because that arrow is pointing you in a certain direction doesn't mean you have to follow it no matter what. Stop, open your quest log and read the directions one more time. In my case, the instructions held the key. (Who knew!) I am a night elf and I was on the "hero's quest". I was supposed to go find someone with a flying bird to get me to where the arrow was pointing, but instead I jumped off the world.

Basically what the tree looks like. As a Night Elf, your world is a giant tree (inside of the circle) but there are some villages and such outside the tree that your quests will take you. See those roots and branches sticking out? Yeah.

Too Late for that Advice?

Ok so if you're like me, you've already jumped off the world so that advice is too little, too late. Once, when I did this, I landed (and died) on the ground below (far far below), but most recently, I landed on a branch and was killed.

So I started as a little blue floatie (spirit) from the graveyard and made my way to the edge. From there, I jumped off the world in an attempt to find my corpse and resurrect. Much to my dismay, I must have passed the branch because I continued to plummet and started getting farther and farther away from my body.

Click 'Return to Graveyard'.

I had to try again. And again. And again. I started to get discouraged, and even panicky wondering aloud what I was going to do if I was never able to retrieve my body. Would I have to delete my character and start again?! Please No! I just kept trying. Finally, with a little (a LOT) of luck, I landed on the branch that cradled my corpse and was able to resurrect.

I just had to go to the exact branch I jumped from and try to jump from the same spot on said branch.

IMPORTANT: If you DO find your body and resurrect on a branch, DO NOT, under any circumstance, jump off the branch to try to get to the ground! You might fall to another branch!! Use the harthstone!

The harthstone is one of the first things in your backpack and it takes you to back to the inn. This way you don't have to figure out how to get back into the world from the branch you died on. It might be futile that way.

Good luck!
