LEGO Easter Bunny Hut 5005249 Review
Today we will be looking at the Easter Bunny Hut seasonal set 5005249. This set came out in 2018, has 6 pieces, and was designed for people 6 and up.
To celebrate Easter, this set was given away free with qualifying purchases at LEGO Stores. Rather than a polybag, like most promotional minifigures come in, this one has a nice box that can be used as a display case after it’s opened. The door with a bunny head and door knob can be opened to reveal the figure inside.
The side of the house box have windows and plants to bring the setting to life and the back shows where the Easter Bunny does his egg decorating. There is a paper sleeve that fits around the box with the basic set information and legal disclaimers you would normally find printed on a bag or box.
LEGO did a great job with their design of this minifigure. The pants are a plain solid white, but that works great for a bunny character. The toros piece is what really stands out. The blue jacket and green striped vest are too short and show off his fluffy belly in front and cute little cotton tail in back. It’s a shame they didn’t continue this white pattern on the side, but that is me being picky. The big yellow tie is the perfect choice for this Easter Outfit. The bunny ears have been around for a long time and are the same ones used for Collectable Minifigure series 7 Bunny Suit Guy. While this piece completely covers the head and would make a dual sided head possible, LEGO stuck with one face printing. However, that one face is packed with some great details. I love the buck rabbit teeth. The freckles and orange eyebrows also bring some nice life to the character and make it stand out from other minifigure heads.
LEGO did an amazing job with the accessories. While the paint brush and egg are not new pieces, they managed to add color to make them unique. Usually the paint brushes in a LEGO set are dipped in green paint, but this one has a nice bright blue to better fit the Easter color palette. While I have seen LEGO eggs come in lots of different solid colors. This is the first egg I have seen with a decorative pattern painted all the way around it.
The Easter Bunny character is a great addition to the minifigure cast and perfect for those who love love holiday sets. The unique torso, head and accessories only make it more desirable as a collector or for people who like to make their own custom LEGO creations.
